Is this a scam? I genuinely can’t tell if my mutual got hacked.

They were hacked. Do not add the email address to your account. That’s giving them direct access to yours.

I know you already got the answer but yeah that’s for sure a scam, and a dumb one at that 💀 I’m not saying like you’re dumb to fall for it, theyre js dumb for thinking that’d work.. stay safe out there bro

Step by step guide:

Respond with:

“I think I know how to do that…”

They will say:

“Please hrry time is of essence”

Then you email them a close up picture of your asshole at 2x camera zoom (be sure it’s after a fresh number 2)

Text them: “I’ve done it!!!! What next?”

And then enjoy the silence. The dark, looming pull of space that encompasses you as all of a sudden the scammer goes radio quiet, and is never to be heard from again

I see posts like this multiple times a week. Yes it’s a scam. It’s always a scam. It’s never not a scam. It’s so blatantly obvious it has me concerned for other areas of your life. Are you financially supporting any Nigerian princes? Do you actually think you need to address your cars extended warranty? Has HR ever reprimanded you for clicking links in emails you receive from gibberish addresses? Honestly, I wish mods would ban posts like this but if lemmings like you require a Reddit post to keep from having your information stolen, I guess it’s for the best.

But for future reference: there is no candy in the back of that unmarked van, that man does not actually have a bridge he wants to sell you, and there aren’t actually hundreds of singles in your area waiting to talk to you.

It’s a big scary world out there, stay safe.

When you add their email address to your account, they’ll just reset your password and lock you out

Someone tried this on me in like 2008 lmao

Your first thing should be to try and reach the mutual on a different platform and inform them of the message. In the 0.001% chance it’s not, they would be able to tell you. For the 99.9% it is a scam, they’d be aware they were hacked.

But yeah, def a scam.
