From a non TikTok user, I have a couple questions.

  1. For the people who migrated, why use another Chinese app (this time, fully owned) by a Chinese company?
  2. Why not use YT Shorts (Not a meta app.)
  3. Are you aware that trump made the ban in the first place?
  4. Convince me to use rednote (not required to answer)

  1. My 15 and 17 year old children download it and I wanted to make sure it was safe, after being on there a few days now it is safer and more fun than TikTok. The people are as curious about us as we are of them.
  2. Alphabet Owns youtube, Alphabet is the parent company of Meta Platforms.
  3. Yes, most social media is being bought and owned by republicans, Facebook is going to allow lgbt hate speech to appease republicans and so on.
  4. It sounds like you want to use red note but are feeling like you are beating America if you do. I’ll tell you this, I was in the army we fought for freedom of all Americans no matter what political party or race, if you are American we fight for your freedom. I want to be free to go to TikTok or red note and hand over my data if I want because I am a free American to make that choice for myself.

5 there is no 5 but I want to say I have learned so much about China. Yes they can be censored by their government but so are we. Did you know it is a lie that their are sweat shops in China that use child labor to make the products we buy, did you know it’s a lie that Chinese people aren’t allowed to have more than two children so they get rid of the girls. I have heard these things my entire life and it turns out it’s abstract propaganda they control us and everything we see, watch and know.

  1. It's a form of protest saying F U to the US government and Meta that was deeply involved in the TikTok ban

  2. YouTube has a different algorithm and on top of that it's almost 20 years old, so it's dated. I was a senior in high school (2006) when YouTube came out

  3. Yeah but Biden was the one who signed the bill which was sandwiched in between foreign aid packages

  4. I rather not because international students, family, and friends use the app to keep in touch with others. If that goes away, it's unfair to them. On top of that, RedNote is based in China and has very different rules compared to the US. It's NOT the same as TikTok here. I don't know who came up with this idea. I get it that everyone is pissed off about the ban but jeopardizing another Chinese social media app that's been operating since 2013 is not it.

I think everybody has their data already but so far the app is just a lot of fun and is so much like Tik Tok. It feels familiar

Just have fun, dude. Like lots of Chinese are using Reddit, Ins and so on. It is just a app, why not see the real life in a total different country.

We are sharing normal daily things to each other like life style, culture, hobby, arts, city scenes, cats and lovely pets. As long as do it smartly don't share and talk about sensitive affairs of both countries it will be fine.

The data of ordinary person life is useless for politicians yet is fun and inspiring for you and me.

Just open our hearts and be a global human for the beauty of the world.

For me...it's making a statement by using REDnote. My own government banned TT, infringing on my freedom of expression - even when the intelligence community said there was no discernable threat from China or anyone else in that app specifically. I will give my data to whomever I choose to. I have no closely guarded national secrets in my stupid mobile.

TT collected data the same way that Meta, X, Reddit, Imgur, Snap, Tumblr, and Google has. Literally identical.

We have no real user/consumer protections, and imo the stateside tech bros just hated not getting ALL the data, so they bought the Senate and Congress to get TT shut down. We need laws made to protect us from these alleged threats, and force all apps to abide by them.

I have been enjoying REDnote so far, it's pretty neat.

Making the Jump from TikTok to Rednote(Xiaohongshu)? Here’s What You Need to Know

So you’re thinking about switching (or at least dabbling) from TikTok to **Rednote** (aka Xiaohongshu)? Here’s a quick rundown on what to expect and how to adapt: 1. **Different Vibe** * **TikTok** is all about short, snappy videos—dances, trends, and memes. * **Rednote** leans more toward lifestyle tips, product reviews, and personal stories. Think mini-blogs rather than just quick clips. 2. **Less is More—or Is It?** * On **TikTok**, you can go viral with a 15-second masterpiece. * On **Rednote**, people actually read captions and appreciate detailed posts. Don’t be afraid to write a bit more and share personal insights. 3. **Engage with the Community** * Responding to comments is key on both platforms, but **Rednote** users expect a friendlier, more helpful approach. Focus on real interaction rather than just racking up views. 4. **Use Relevant Hashtags & Keywords** * **TikTok** hashtags can be trendy and fleeting. * **Rednote** hashtags and keywords should be more targeted, especially if you’re reviewing products or sharing how-to tips. 5. **Be Ready for Culture Shifts** * The **Rednote** audience often loves beauty, travel, fashion, and “real-life” hacks. * If you’re pivoting from dance challenges, consider experimenting with lifestyle or review content to fit the platform’s style. 6. **Quality Over Quantity** * While **TikTok** can reward frequent posting, **Rednote** might favor fewer, well-thought-out posts that really resonate. High-quality visuals and genuine storytelling go a long way. Got questions about Rednote? Drop ’em below—always happy to help a fellow content creator make the jump!

The ban isn't really about privacy concerns

Why exactly? You and me know why America is banning tiktok... They can't control the narrative their like they do with Facebook or Instagram YouTube. etc The genocide in Gaza was being shown in its full without any kind of censorship... And daddy israel doesn't like that so the AIPAC who's holding the American politicians by the balls... Forced them into banning the app.... It's not about privacy or any of that.... Remember edward Snowden.? I rest my case.

Y'all know why Trump suddenly became "pro-TikTok" right?

Say it with me....because he and his oligarch buddies are getting worried Americans are waking up to the truth about the anti-China propaganda BS in Red Note and will either demand better conditions or go full socialist.
