Anyone else notice a massive shift in attitude in the last day or so?

Sorry this is going to be a long one.

Obviously I knew the initial wave of acceptance wouldn't last but wow I'm surprised at how quickly things seem to have really gotten hostile. I know that unfortunately some awful Americans were being awful Americans but that was to be expected unfortunately. At first I saw a wave of posts mocking Americans talking about their struggles, many people saying that we're lying, some suggesting we're actor's trying to scam them which is interesting because I didn't see anyone asking for money and others saying Americans where trying to play the victim so that Chinese people would let down their guard. From there it suddenly seemed like everyone started talking about American accounts being fake spies who were trying to get Chinese secrets and photos or that we where sent to make Chinese citizens fail a national security test. Ok, a bit understandable given what I know about the Chinese government and I understand the paranoia.

Then I came across many posts that were just incredibly angry about the Americans who were asking about immigration, and again understandable I think a lot of the Americans asking that are being incredibly naive and just saying things because even basic research shows it's mostly impossible to do anyways. They were saying that any accounts promoting immigration had to be reported and that people should be taking screenshots and reporting any foreigners who were asking about immigration so that they could potentially be tracked if they come to visit China to make sure they don't try to stay illegally. A lot of talk about white Americans only having a colonizer mindset of coming to a nice place and taking everything for themselves without working for it and to look at all the harm they have done, which again okay pretty fair considering history.

I really didn't expect how racist those comments would be, especially against black people...after all of the talk about how race doesn't matter that happened in the beginning. I saw so many comments about how foreigners especially black ones are just going to come and get the women pregnant to try to stay and that everyone should look at what happened to France as an example of how quickly a country can be infiltrated by others especially black people.

So yeah I'm not really sure what to make of all that, obviously at the end of the day it's a Chinese app and we were just guests but the very rapid shift to just complete nastiness was a bit surprising. I know that is not the opinion of everyone, there are still people having pleasant exchanges, but it has me wondering and little worried about some of the black Americans still creating content on there, if they were to mention anything about immigration would that be used as propaganda against all black foreigners? Could they be in some sort of danger if they do go visit in the future?

I took a lot of screenshots if anyone really wants to see what I'm talking about if you haven't seen it yourself, but those are mostly just to discuss with my friends and I wasn't planning on sharing them publicly.

Black people are more in danger in West than it China. China never had participated in the slave trade, they were being slaved, doped and robbed. Any prejudice chinese people may have towards black people is not about on race superiority but more about culture preservation and those are people that wouldnt want white western person to marry their children either. I am half japanese, half black latina and Japan is the same. They may say something uneducated and rude but they would never be violent.

There are bigots everywhere, in a population of 1.4b there will obviously be some.

But these hostile contents will probably be taken down by the app itself. No need to do a expose, your whole posts sound like the CIA lol

even basic research shows it's mostly impossible to do anyways.

If you are a student, in academia, research and especially in the STEM field, you will have plenty of opportunities to migrate to China and even stay. If you are business owner, entrepreneur too, plenty of opportunities to do business and open companies there.

There are bigots everywhere, in a population of 1.4b there will obviously be some.

I'm not on the app so it's hard to say what kind of mindset went into each of those comments. But the ones who accuse Americans of lying about their struggles are definitely pro-West people who insist that the West is better than China. There is a significant minority of pro-west Chinese, who are regarded as traitors/idiots/hanjian by most Chinese. Most (but not all) of those pro-West Chinese live in Taiwan (we know because every time there is a major electricity blackout in Taiwan, every major Chinese app suddenly becomes much more peaceful than usual) or are part of the diaspora. Some of those people are probably paid to spread anti-China propaganda, but most of them are just mindless followers.

I'm on some other Chinese apps, and most of the posts about the rednote interactions are talking about how garbage the US government is. We already knew that US exploits the rest of the world, but most of us are shocked at how it even exploits its own citizens. We thought the regular citizens were also benefiting from US imperialism, turns out it's just the elite benefitting while the regular citizens are victims just like everyone else. Many Chinese people now feel sympathy for ordinary Americans.

China makes fun of all races, including themselves. I think there is just a lot less filter on what the west perceives about political correctness.

Making the Jump from TikTok to Rednote(Xiaohongshu)? Here’s What You Need to Know

So you’re thinking about switching (or at least dabbling) from TikTok to **Rednote** (aka Xiaohongshu)? Here’s a quick rundown on what to expect and how to adapt: 1. **Different Vibe** * **TikTok** is all about short, snappy videos—dances, trends, and memes. * **Rednote** leans more toward lifestyle tips, product reviews, and personal stories. Think mini-blogs rather than just quick clips. 2. **Less is More—or Is It?** * On **TikTok**, you can go viral with a 15-second masterpiece. * On **Rednote**, people actually read captions and appreciate detailed posts. Don’t be afraid to write a bit more and share personal insights. 3. **Engage with the Community** * Responding to comments is key on both platforms, but **Rednote** users expect a friendlier, more helpful approach. Focus on real interaction rather than just racking up views. 4. **Use Relevant Hashtags & Keywords** * **TikTok** hashtags can be trendy and fleeting. * **Rednote** hashtags and keywords should be more targeted, especially if you’re reviewing products or sharing how-to tips. 5. **Be Ready for Culture Shifts** * The **Rednote** audience often loves beauty, travel, fashion, and “real-life” hacks. * If you’re pivoting from dance challenges, consider experimenting with lifestyle or review content to fit the platform’s style. 6. **Quality Over Quantity** * While **TikTok** can reward frequent posting, **Rednote** might favor fewer, well-thought-out posts that really resonate. High-quality visuals and genuine storytelling go a long way. Got questions about Rednote? Drop ’em below—always happy to help a fellow content creator make the jump!

The ban isn't really about privacy concerns

Why exactly? You and me know why America is banning tiktok... They can't control the narrative their like they do with Facebook or Instagram YouTube. etc The genocide in Gaza was being shown in its full without any kind of censorship... And daddy israel doesn't like that so the AIPAC who's holding the American politicians by the balls... Forced them into banning the app.... It's not about privacy or any of that.... Remember edward Snowden.? I rest my case.

Y'all know why Trump suddenly became "pro-TikTok" right?

Say it with me....because he and his oligarch buddies are getting worried Americans are waking up to the truth about the anti-China propaganda BS in Red Note and will either demand better conditions or go full socialist.
