Made a friend,but….

Has anyone made friends on red note? I have, she is super sweet and told me she wants to show my China. The problem is that my boyfriend is doubtful, saying she only wants money or something. I know people have mentioned scammers, but I highly doubt she is one.

Most people on Rednote I don’t think are scammers. A lot of Chinese people sincerely want to make foreign friends. If there is something they want from you, my guess would be that they want to practice English lol (and learn about different culture)

I have made multiple new friends from China and none of them have tried to scam me or do anything untoward. Two of them did want to buy me gifts though for being their first American friend 😅💖

I’m messaging and building a friendship with someone on red note. She’s shared and I’ve shared. Nothing untoward as of yet

Just remember you don’t give ANYONE money . If she is your friend she won’t ask you money and ask you download any crypto apps

If she asks for money then you’ll know what she wants but everyone from China I’ve met is wholesome and kind. I have seen fake profiles with men saying they’re from the US, with IP addresses from Nigeria. I told one of them I was psychic and I felt he was lying about being from Florida. He stuck to his story and eventually blocked me 🤣

Make friends life is short. What is there to scam when they should already know by now they’re more well off than us Americans.

There was someone earlier today, a Chinese woman, posting about how "feel free to make friends and be kind, but the moment someone mentions money, walk right away, don't even bother rejecting them".

I think it's fair to be cautious with all people in the world, no matter what app. If anyone asks for money, unless you've known them for a really long time (or unless you don't mind throwing away money), let them go.

Be ready for differing sets of expectations on what “friend” means. This is not meant to come across as a negative, just a fact that two different cultures expect different things. If your friend gets upset that you don’t do certain things in return, you’ll have to be honest that friendship means different things in your culture, and that you did not know about her expectation when you started, nor can you fulfill that expectation.

Edit: I am married to a man born in China. I am not Chinese.

She probably just want an American friend to practice her English and learn about our culture.

Making the Jump from TikTok to Rednote(Xiaohongshu)? Here’s What You Need to Know

So you’re thinking about switching (or at least dabbling) from TikTok to **Rednote** (aka Xiaohongshu)? Here’s a quick rundown on what to expect and how to adapt: 1. **Different Vibe** * **TikTok** is all about short, snappy videos—dances, trends, and memes. * **Rednote** leans more toward lifestyle tips, product reviews, and personal stories. Think mini-blogs rather than just quick clips. 2. **Less is More—or Is It?** * On **TikTok**, you can go viral with a 15-second masterpiece. * On **Rednote**, people actually read captions and appreciate detailed posts. Don’t be afraid to write a bit more and share personal insights. 3. **Engage with the Community** * Responding to comments is key on both platforms, but **Rednote** users expect a friendlier, more helpful approach. Focus on real interaction rather than just racking up views. 4. **Use Relevant Hashtags & Keywords** * **TikTok** hashtags can be trendy and fleeting. * **Rednote** hashtags and keywords should be more targeted, especially if you’re reviewing products or sharing how-to tips. 5. **Be Ready for Culture Shifts** * The **Rednote** audience often loves beauty, travel, fashion, and “real-life” hacks. * If you’re pivoting from dance challenges, consider experimenting with lifestyle or review content to fit the platform’s style. 6. **Quality Over Quantity** * While **TikTok** can reward frequent posting, **Rednote** might favor fewer, well-thought-out posts that really resonate. High-quality visuals and genuine storytelling go a long way. Got questions about Rednote? Drop ’em below—always happy to help a fellow content creator make the jump!

The ban isn't really about privacy concerns

Why exactly? You and me know why America is banning tiktok... They can't control the narrative their like they do with Facebook or Instagram YouTube. etc The genocide in Gaza was being shown in its full without any kind of censorship... And daddy israel doesn't like that so the AIPAC who's holding the American politicians by the balls... Forced them into banning the app.... It's not about privacy or any of that.... Remember edward Snowden.? I rest my case.

Y'all know why Trump suddenly became "pro-TikTok" right?

Say it with me....because he and his oligarch buddies are getting worried Americans are waking up to the truth about the anti-China propaganda BS in Red Note and will either demand better conditions or go full socialist.
