I hate new tiktok.

The algorithm did not change and I’m not sure why this conspiracy keeps spreading. Think about it this way: prior to Tiktok going dark, most US creators were making content related to the ban. They were saying their goodbyes, updating about the ban, etc. You likely were seeing it, maybe engaged with it, so that’s already out of the realm of what you usually like to watch on Tiktok.

Then, the app was dark for over 14 hours. US creators were obviously not making new videos. When Tiktok came back online, it took about a day for the app to sort of regulate and stabilize. They shut the servers down. It makes sense that things were out of wack and maybe you were seeing content you don’t think fits in with your FYP.

My FYP is completely normal. My entire feed is full of the niche content I like to watch. Sure, when the app first came back online, it took a bit before it regulated, but it’s normal now. The algorithm did not change, and there is no evidence that it did.

Search for the content you want to see and engage with it. Click “not interested” on the things you don’t like. It will fix itself. “They” did not rip the soul out of your FYP, you just need to recalibrate it.

If you go and block the following many are seeing their algorithms return back to normal. Worked wonders for me personally but I also understand the frustration:

God you people really need to grow up. There is no conspiracy you are just unaware of a little thing called confirmation bias.

The ONLY thing that changed for me is that I got a few ads for overtly Christian products. Which is a huge swing-and-a-miss. I don't know what happened, because I'm a crunchy atheist and my FYP reflects it.

Anyway, I just reported them all as misinformation or disturbing and they stopped showing up.
