For the people who chose to leave for good…

I think a lot of us who are leaving are leaving most forms of social media so we're not really going anywhere else. So many things about the TikTok ban have been eye opening to so many things about how social media is run and just how addictive and timesucking it is. I am still using reddit and bluesky mostly when I am at work but I am spending my newly found time at home learning a new hobby and reading instead of seeking out additional social media.

I'm really enjoying the irony of the people who can't resist commenting "read a book" "go back to real life" to get their little superiority dopamine hit while visibly wasting their own time being negative to Internet strangers 😘

Bluesky Social added a live video feature similar to TikTok and Mark Cuban is looking into funding a version.

I left. I decided TikTok has become an addiction and I needed to stop. I’ve actually been happier and feel like I’ve been sleeping better since I’m not spending hours scrolling in bed

There’s also another app called Neptune getting a lot of attention as a TT alt, but it’s not supposed to drop in the App Store until spring. Skylight by Blue Sky, as others mentioned, is also an option

Try Xiaohongshu. It is not TikTok, but can serve a similar purpose for many. It is more about lifestyle, and socializing than tiktok ever was. Just realize, it is a Chinese app, so behave accordingly. Don't mention Tiawan. Avoid politics (any, but particularly Chinese politics). Be polite.

I’ve decided to take advantage of the situation and do a social media detox and keeping online profiles that aren’t associated with Meta or any of the big tech companies. Honestly, tiktok has already changed for the worse and I’m not on board with it.
