Despite Trump’s executive order, Apple and Google’s app stores have not reinstated TikTok or other ByteDance-owned apps like CapCut and Lemon8. This hesitation is likely due to concerns over potential legal liability if Trump reverses course and enforces the ban afterall.

I mean Tik Tok is being sold. Proof ex https://www.cnn.com/2025/01/22/tech/tiktok-sale-deal-bill-ford/index.html

Just give it another few days for this to finalize and it'll appear, trump is not reversing anything

So who is the buyer? Meta most likely they already run the new servers for the usa

Most Americans are saying it's not the same on their end and not even worth having, or are getting banned due to censorship by the land of the free.

I'm kind of confused about the ban. It was agreed by a lot of people that the ban would just mean the app is no longer on the app stores and the app would deteriorate over time due to not being updated.

But then it was said that the ban also applies to Oracle who maintains the infrastructure so the app would go offline. Trump apparently gave assurances that the law wouldn't be enforced which means what people said originally is now true, the app will still function, you just can't get updates.

The way TikTok is operating is dangerous. If a security flaw is found then they have no way of pushing a security patch out.

Reportedly fines can be levied at any time up to 5 years after the infraction. So the legal jeopardy isn't just if Trump changes he is mind but if the next administration comes in and decides they need to be punished.

GOOD.

I don't blame them. He obviously has something in mind with TikTok, if things don't go the way he expects he could very well throw a temper tantrum and try to collect fines. Given the insane amount they are for even 1 day, I wouldn't do it either. Honestly despite all the "Meta owns TikTok" and "THe government owns TikTok now, state run Media" and "Musk will buy TikTok" I don't think there actually is a buyer secured and in 90 days it will either go down again, or the government will find another excuse to kick the can. I don't think it's actually selling.

I doubt it. The main reason is always money. By keeping tik Tok off the app it forces users to their other apps. The ban is just a scape goat.

I deleted the app yesterday to try to resolve another issue, not realizing it'd been removed from the App Store. Can't get it back even as a beta tester and attempting to install it from TestFlight.

I know you can change your Apple account to Canada to install it but that requires cancelling Apple Music to do so and I'm not gonna do that. Seems I'm screwed for the time being.

Trump is known to lie and reverse course so can you blame em. 5,000 per user a day is expensive.
