Red note users censored?

Genuine question and i do not mean to be offensive. Everybody seems so nice and welcoming to Americans on red note, but are they even allowed to be upset? Since they are monitored and regulated so much more than us in America, can they even speak out if they felt negatively about things or would that go against what their government has set in place? I guess I’ve just been thinking are they purposely being happy and nice because they’re supposed to act that way so that foreigners in China is only full of happiness so they look good to other countries?

Many Chinese individuals have shared experiences of facing discrimination while in the United States. Others expressed frustration over the tendency of some Americans to overlook cultural distinctions, often failing to differentiate between Chinese, Korean, Japanese, or Thai traditions and items.

They also dislike that Americans refer to the Chinese New Year as the Lunar New Year. Additionally, they were frustrated by Americans expressing surprise at seeing kites in China, given that kites were originally invented there.

They disapprove of how Western women often dress in ways they perceive as overly revealing and are uncomfortable with how openly Westerners discuss topics related to sex.

When Chinese people go to the USA, they discover how China is a derogatory term, and that people unknown to them will say "Ching Chong" to them just because of racism.

In summary, there are many aspects of the USA they dislike, and they express these sentiments openly on Rednote.

It's not censoring like you think. It's just that they saw Americans as "guests," so they temporarily rein in their "behaviors". They were even joking in Chinese, saying that they would go back to their "original nasty selves" soon. Some even claimed that they should get the crown for sarcasm, so obviously, there was no lack of negative comments. Although the way they say it, you may not fully understand if you are not native Chinese. They like to play words and quote sayings, so translation may not work so well and impossible to understand if you don't speak the language.

Great question actually

It's simple. You want to be nice to your guests and maintain or strive to gain good reputation.

It’s no different than how tik tok is currently censoring people now

You’re on the right track with this thought process. It took me about a week to finally see some accounts that were alluding to what they could and couldn’t say or do beyond the obvious. One guy that I follow had some videos taken down for showing a poorer area of the city.

I think it’s also fairly obvious that the reason we are allowed to be on the app is because we are a lesson for them. The government wants them to watch the downfall of America in real time. They want them to see our ignorance and hate. Some creators are even bating Americans into it by asking questions that they know are divisive and will cause arguments.

I ended up deleting the app, while I believe many people on there are genuinely happy we are there, there is just so much more to it than we are seeing or are allowed to see.

I deleted my account a week after making it bc i had no way to recover it and got no explanation as to why it was “compromised” in the first place. gave up super quick.

Ive lived in China for 6 years and it was driving me crazy seeing all the misinformation being fed to the US newcomers. I get that they are angry but they were all too happy to drink the kool aid that was being served to them. I think they will figure it out eventually, accounts blocked, messages throttled, etc. but the lack of actually everyday realities of Chinese life was mind blowing. Ive never been on TikTok but I imagine everyone isn’t just a social media influencer. I got sick of the xhs fake feeds pretty quick and deleted it.

Making the Jump from TikTok to Rednote(Xiaohongshu)? Here’s What You Need to Know

So you’re thinking about switching (or at least dabbling) from TikTok to **Rednote** (aka Xiaohongshu)? Here’s a quick rundown on what to expect and how to adapt: 1. **Different Vibe** * **TikTok** is all about short, snappy videos—dances, trends, and memes. * **Rednote** leans more toward lifestyle tips, product reviews, and personal stories. Think mini-blogs rather than just quick clips. 2. **Less is More—or Is It?** * On **TikTok**, you can go viral with a 15-second masterpiece. * On **Rednote**, people actually read captions and appreciate detailed posts. Don’t be afraid to write a bit more and share personal insights. 3. **Engage with the Community** * Responding to comments is key on both platforms, but **Rednote** users expect a friendlier, more helpful approach. Focus on real interaction rather than just racking up views. 4. **Use Relevant Hashtags & Keywords** * **TikTok** hashtags can be trendy and fleeting. * **Rednote** hashtags and keywords should be more targeted, especially if you’re reviewing products or sharing how-to tips. 5. **Be Ready for Culture Shifts** * The **Rednote** audience often loves beauty, travel, fashion, and “real-life” hacks. * If you’re pivoting from dance challenges, consider experimenting with lifestyle or review content to fit the platform’s style. 6. **Quality Over Quantity** * While **TikTok** can reward frequent posting, **Rednote** might favor fewer, well-thought-out posts that really resonate. High-quality visuals and genuine storytelling go a long way. Got questions about Rednote? Drop ’em below—always happy to help a fellow content creator make the jump!

The ban isn't really about privacy concerns

Why exactly? You and me know why America is banning tiktok... They can't control the narrative their like they do with Facebook or Instagram YouTube. etc The genocide in Gaza was being shown in its full without any kind of censorship... And daddy israel doesn't like that so the AIPAC who's holding the American politicians by the balls... Forced them into banning the app.... It's not about privacy or any of that.... Remember edward Snowden.? I rest my case.

Y'all know why Trump suddenly became "pro-TikTok" right?

Say it with me....because he and his oligarch buddies are getting worried Americans are waking up to the truth about the anti-China propaganda BS in Red Note and will either demand better conditions or go full socialist.
