is this a common thing?

hi i downloaded xhs some time ago to look art and photos like how i use pinterest for inspiration. i follow artists but i don't post anything

a few artists with quite a lot of followers followed me back and asked me if i like drawing. it all sounded similar so at first i was confused. but the conversation usually stops after i reply a bit (maybe i'm just dry texter 💀)

to be fair i had art from a web series called alien stage on my profile, which i thought was fairly well-known at least in an app usually used for art. maybe they assumed this was my art, so i would tell them it's not my art + also put this in my bio to avoid any confusion but i haven't been unfollowed or anything

i'm just wondering if this is normal on here? i already know that baobao is a cute nickname creators use on cn socials for followers, i just didn't expect any direct interaction cuz i get anxious abt it 😭 hope this makes sense

Rednote is mostly girls, and baobao 宝宝 is a term girls and girls like to use, the direct translation is baby but the text connotation means something near cute girl, cutie, because girls on this platform tend to be very close.

It's normal. Most people in the fan circle also address other fans as baobao and I also use it sometimes. XD

i don't have the option to edit but i'm not asking about the nickname part, just the artist situation 😭

idk if they have expectations to ask to collab or smth which kinda makes me anxious since i don't draw regularly

Hello, 宝宝. As far as I am concerned, most of influencers on RN just want to talk with you, maybe about ideas, inspirations and learn how to improve their skill. So don't be anxious, the guy who sent you a message may be even more shy than you.

there's alot of people on there trying to get you to sign up for their art classes. big chance it's just that

Probably trying to sell something

This is automated reply for new followers. Common on instagram and also other Chinese social media. They DON’T care about you or your art. It’s just a way to welcome new followers and lots of creators also use it as a way to sell you stuff. Lots of posts on rednote are just implicit advertisements, it’s pretty sad.

I’m a starter learning drawing. After I post some of my practice on rednote. I got dm saying something like “宝子你也喜欢画画吗?” meaning “Bae you like drawing too” Then they start trying to sell some online drawing course to me😂😂😂

Unrelated but I personally really dislike the Baobao/Bao term. I’ve seen way too many examples on red note where ppl start off sounding super close but then some argument happen they all of a sudden they curse on each other. Ppl need to realize you don’t know anyone on the platform and there are ways you can have nice vibes other than using intimate terms.

Making the Jump from TikTok to Rednote(Xiaohongshu)? Here’s What You Need to Know

So you’re thinking about switching (or at least dabbling) from TikTok to **Rednote** (aka Xiaohongshu)? Here’s a quick rundown on what to expect and how to adapt: 1. **Different Vibe** * **TikTok** is all about short, snappy videos—dances, trends, and memes. * **Rednote** leans more toward lifestyle tips, product reviews, and personal stories. Think mini-blogs rather than just quick clips. 2. **Less is More—or Is It?** * On **TikTok**, you can go viral with a 15-second masterpiece. * On **Rednote**, people actually read captions and appreciate detailed posts. Don’t be afraid to write a bit more and share personal insights. 3. **Engage with the Community** * Responding to comments is key on both platforms, but **Rednote** users expect a friendlier, more helpful approach. Focus on real interaction rather than just racking up views. 4. **Use Relevant Hashtags & Keywords** * **TikTok** hashtags can be trendy and fleeting. * **Rednote** hashtags and keywords should be more targeted, especially if you’re reviewing products or sharing how-to tips. 5. **Be Ready for Culture Shifts** * The **Rednote** audience often loves beauty, travel, fashion, and “real-life” hacks. * If you’re pivoting from dance challenges, consider experimenting with lifestyle or review content to fit the platform’s style. 6. **Quality Over Quantity** * While **TikTok** can reward frequent posting, **Rednote** might favor fewer, well-thought-out posts that really resonate. High-quality visuals and genuine storytelling go a long way. Got questions about Rednote? Drop ’em below—always happy to help a fellow content creator make the jump!

The ban isn't really about privacy concerns

Why exactly? You and me know why America is banning tiktok... They can't control the narrative their like they do with Facebook or Instagram YouTube. etc The genocide in Gaza was being shown in its full without any kind of censorship... And daddy israel doesn't like that so the AIPAC who's holding the American politicians by the balls... Forced them into banning the app.... It's not about privacy or any of that.... Remember edward Snowden.? I rest my case.

Y'all know why Trump suddenly became "pro-TikTok" right?

Say it with me....because he and his oligarch buddies are getting worried Americans are waking up to the truth about the anti-China propaganda BS in Red Note and will either demand better conditions or go full socialist.
