Trial of Chaos seems underwhelming, What am I missing?

I’ve never really farmed any of the trials so I thought I would test the Trial of Chaos, learn the mechanics and identify the average time to complete along with taking inventory of the currency yielded. I found it underwhelming and want to ask this group what I’m missing.

Out of 7 runs, I failed 2 and completed 5 - each yielding a fate that are worth a few divine each. The rest of the currency was mid, results shown above. Average time to complete was around 14-15 minutes or 4/hr.

At the end of the last run, I combined 3 of the fates together to kill the trial master which was insanely easy and he dropped a corrupted inscribed ultimatum that I can use on the next run to cash in 20exalt in exchange for doubling the rewards.

Are the trials worth farming? Was my sample size too small to clearly see the value? Is 4/hr better turnaround time than Sekhemas?

you sell the fates. if poe.ninja price at 18div per fate is correct then 72div/h is not bad for how easy (and braindead) the content is

or do trialmaster for the chance to get an unid adorned (1 mirror)

You're missing this. Trialmaster is by far the most profitable farm there is. I actually stopped running my temple because 70 divs is just peanuts at this point.

The only downside is that you can bankrupt yourself very easily if you don't already have a decent amount of currency. I went on a dry streak of 81 runs, the frags were ~13 divs ate the time so i was ~2000 divs in the hole at one point.

If you’re just looking for consistent currency the fragments will go for a lot. But if you’re trying to hit it big you might drop the adorned jewel from the trial master. Mind you the drop rate of the adorned is very low. Also 7 runs is very less to feel underwhelmed.

~3000 ex is a pretty good chunk of divines if you want to put yourself through the slog. its not that bad. I'll do a run every once and a while to boost my exalts to buy other crafting currencies without burning through my divines

In hc the fates do sell for decent amount of div the cheapest one sells for 4 divs.

It’s basically for the adorned but why adorned is so valuable this league is because they buffed it. The adorned was crap 0.2 and 0.3 so running trial of chaos wasn’t as profitable then

The fates are worth 17div/pop.
I guess they are worth so much, because the expected value of the trialmaster is above 50 divs, but I don't know why.

Thanks all, I appreciate the feedback! My takeaway is that people running it for the Adorned Diamond which has a 2% drop rate and sells for a mirror unidentified. The fates will yield about 17d per run or about 60-70d/hr if sold instead of consuming to attempt the trial master.

I don’t hear anything about other drops putting soul cores aside. So at this point, I need to evaluate if my time is better spent on Sekhemas, end-game maps, or stick with Chaos.

Thank you!

A well rolled adorned is probably the best and easiest way to scale literally every single build in the game. I didn't really think about it until I came to terms with the fact that the passive tree is shit and that's on purpose. Jewels, however, are not shit. So what if you got several jewels to meet all your passive tree needs then multiplied them by >2x. Now the passive tree is fucking amazing. Bonus points if you went for the best ascendancy in the game (pathfinder) and can turn the generic travel nodes into whatever you need as well.

Fates are decent profit per hour if you just run trials and sell them (~60d/hr) with no investment, small profit boosts from div drops or good soul cores

Giga money is in unID Adorned which drops from trialmaster fight. UnID they are almost a mirror each and drop at a 2% rate. Even if you don’t want to invest in getting a set of 2 fates (earn the third) per run, a 2% chance to drop a mirror every 45 mins is INSANE expected value.

If you have the stomach to gamble, you can also ID your Adorned to see if you get ~135% or above, which is worth multiple mirrors.
