Was Cast on Crit Always this good?

Its basically the only thing i see in vaal temples. The amount of damage it does feels like its the most efficient way to farm Vaal Temples super efficiently. I know you can do the same with other builds like path finder poison burst but you need A LOT of item investment (And a mirror because the bow you need will cost a mirror for end game vaal temples).

What about cast on crit? How budge friendly is it, or do i need a mirror to make it work in end game vaal temples

It was way better in 0.1 So much so that they nerfed all ‘cast on’ skills mid-league, nuked a lot of peoples builds and ticked a lot of people off.

Yup, "cast on:" skills are good since 0.1. They got changed I think in 0.2 or 0.3 so now cast on crit is the best one.

Yep only reason it wasn’t abused last season by same build is that kaoms removed all spirit and was meta. I had a coc frostbolt blood magic comet build last season that was great. Anything that improves directly with huge damage buffs like boosting crit for dmg that also benefits a whole new mode of attack. It’s always been good.

Was playing CoC on my stormweaver last season too but I've never felt this OP this season. Raining comets down and deleting everything. I've been having a blast. Doing rituals I don't even see one enemy spawn lol.

So... the more damage you do while landing a crit, relatively to enemy ailment threshold, increases the amount of energy gained. "Gains 1 Energy per Power of enemies you Critically Hit with Skills, modified by the percentage of the enemy's Ailment Threshold the Critical Hit will deal". Cast on Elemental Ailment has this same line but only on the Ignite part. So anything you deal damage critical striking with is going to generate a shit ton of energy. But inflicting ailments won't scale as high as quickly. You get a lot more energy per monster with COC than COEA.

I suspect this will change going into next patch now it's become the dominant meta again.

Take Doedre COC as an example. You're blasting a screen wide number of white monsters. Say 20 of them. That would he 20 energy. But you're dealing like 15x their Ailment threshold in damage. So it generates max energy and beyond every cast, so we can even throw in 2 comets to a single trigger and drop 2 per cast... or many more with cascade.

Cast on X is basically just heralds for spell builds. They have always been good and will continue to be not only good, but an integral part in most spell caster builds.

With a 350 pDPS bow and Headhunter (both super cheap), path finder Poison Burst build will breeze through the temple
