Citadel doryani boss help.

I don't understand the mechanics of this boss. At the first phase he gets airborne and stars flying around doing his attacks and all, but nearly takes no damage. I don't understand what should I do here. Just wait and he will go to phase 2 or I need to damage him some way? Dose he get immunity to crit? that would make sense because I'm playing spark blood mage with 100% crit so if he is immune to crit that's why I would deal no damage and not be able to leach life. This is strange because this sometimes happens and sometimes he goes straight to phase 2.

What maps does the Vaal Temple beacon NOT roll on? I realize they're not on unique maps but sometimes I'm not seeing them on what I thought were normal maps they should be on. For example, are they not on maps with special bosses?
