Chaos Innoculation advice

I just switched my build from evasion to ES, and think I’d like to give CI a go. I assume I’ll be good to remove all chaos resistance and maximum life from my build, but is there anything else I should know before doing it? Any drawback I may not be realizing, and any good synergies out there I may not know about.

I didnt look at your build but careful if you have anything that removes life.

lots of people accidentally kill themselves with CI by having life loss and not accounting for it with life regen.

5% life loss per second will still kill you over 20 seconds, 1 life regen will save you.

Correct. Brief CI cheklist:

  • Remove Chaos res

  • Remove life stats

  • Remove suicide mana flask with % taken from life

  • Remove Heavy Buffer

  • Get ES leech/faster start of recharge/faster recharge

  • Use Convalescense spirit gem after switching until you're confident to be able to cope without it

  • Enjoy staying in the middle of ten volatile plants purple sheet.

Edit: + Take Stun and Ailment thresholds as % of ES nodes.

You need to invest into stun threshold and ailment threshold. It is by default based on your maximum life, but since with CI you have 1 life, your stun/ailment thresholds are non-existent. With zero threshold you'll get stunned, frozen, ignited and shocked with every single hit that deals that specific damage.

There is a passive cluster right next to Chaos Innoculation that grants #% ES as extra stun and ailment threshold. Taking these 5 passives should be enough with 8k ES. You can also get these modifiers on jewels if you don't want to spend the passive points.

I’m a noob but I run the self mortification (I think) passive node and pretty much never get stunned since I’m always at full life. Works wonders for me in terms of not dying

If you have any "damage bypasses ES" you'll die instantly.

Also make sure you have enough ES.

I ran CI and everyone else loves it, but i prefer maxing my chaos res. I preferred my survivability with some "damage bypasses ES" and the extra thousands of life pool total i had. (I dont remember the node name now, but it was like 40% more ES, 10% Bypass)

Im sure if I fully invested into CI, it would have felt better because it removes poison and bleed.

It’s the only way to fly. Bleeds and poisons and chaos all off the worry list and able to fit in more stats or rarity! Focus on fast recovery time or convalescence

Extraction is now essentially a free 35% extra damage as chaos for a support slot.

Stun charms are super helpful. So is Dream Fragments (immune to freeze and chill) and anything that can help mitigate ignite. The %ES as extra stun/ailment threshold nodes are great unless you take EB (es -> mana).

Life leech is useless unless you have a way to apply it to mana or ES. Even if you do, IIUC it stops once you reach max life unless you have that one passive that makes it not. Make sure you have nothing that adds a life cost to skills unless it's % of max life (which is now free).
