After playing for a little (200hrs) I've always been bothered by the fact that when you choose to upgrade or create a new skill gem it defaults to the weapon assigned to the character and not the weapon you're currently using.
So GGG please see if it's possible to have the skill gem page default to the weapon you have equipped and not the weapon assigned at birth š„¹šš½šš½

It makes a lot of sense, definitely annoying the way it is currently set up. Iām running titan with a staff and anytime i use an uncut gem it shows me a page full of mace and shield skills initially.
Takes just one click to change to all skills, but yea it would be a good QoL change
Very annoying to be AMAB (assigned maces at birth) but discovering youre actually really into quarterstaff and on strengthblockers but have to manually click on the AQAB skills and look at your deadprof gems in the process
It bugs the fuck out of me how much effort Path of Exile 2 puts in to advertising classes as vehicles for weapon skills.
You create a new character, you're curious about what each one is about, so you watch the little preview video....that is about weapons, and has absolutely nothing to do with the class.
What's monk about? Chaos damage? Elemental damage and invocations? No. Monk is quarterstaff skills.
How about the warrior? Does the preview tell us about totems, crafted body armour, or block chance? No. It tells us about maces.
New players are so thoroughly fed "class = weapon" that I'd be unsurprised to find out a large portion of them don't grasp that you can use other ones for quite some time.
Your point, OP, only serves to further cement this weird, baked-in bass-ackwards presentation of classes by forcing the gem window to shove the "class = weapon" thing further down the players throats.

Also having to tab over to a free slot or int dex str tab just to engrave gem on console is a pain. Yes auto equip is fancy but dammit I should be able yo engrave as many gems as I want for a specific skill and not have to unequip one each time I want to make a new one. They should just auto place into the inventory imo.
Skills need to be unlocked from weapons. Idk what the vision is but I don't think it's working. Skills are too restrictive as they are
Also wtf is the recommended support gem menu? Please just let us sort by tag or maybe a tab that shows all possible gems for a skill.
