Is it worth playing the beta?

I haven't played poe before I really enjoyed diablo games and wanted something similar. I found poe2 and my brother and I wanted to play it. We generally just want to play the story and go on about getting better gear etc and just enjoy the game not to do with online gear sharing etc. I dont even know if that applies. I have seen that apparently theres something called leagues that seem like events that you make a new character for I don't really understand what that is so if someone could explain that would be great.

My main point is that beta has been out for like a year most patches have been done even though im sure most stuff will release on actual release. I have seen thay your character is saved but its kept in a EA bubble. I dont know how that affects the game or anything. Should I get the game now or just wait for full release and get it then?

PS: how would it work playing online? Can you play along with someone and just follow a story and get loot like DIV?

Honestly, at this point I think its worth it. I wouldn't call this a beta, I would call it early access. They are regularly updating the game and they have the track record to make the assumption that they'll be updating the game with serious content for the next decade.

It will be free at launch however, but I've been playing poe for a decade now and poe 2 has an insane amount of potential. Transparent dev team, and outstanding community (usually). Would buy again.

PS:

There is a standard mode that keeps your characters from past leagues so you can continue to enjoy them. I can't imagine GGG is "wiping" anything during a 1.0 launch, maybe I'm wrong about that but seems doubtful.

This game is early access but basicallyyy feels like a full game imo

It's a seasonal game, meaning that basically everything resets every ~4 months or so. Many people don't like it, but it's the only way to setup games like this.

Also there are two (more if you count hardcore modes) ways to play it. "Trade leagues", meaning you are able to trade items, consumables and currency.

Other option would be SSF (solo self found) but it doesn't really work if you want to share items between you two.

A league is a ladder reset that typically introduces a new activity that either has specific loot rewards or a new crafting mechanic, along with a new boss or two. That content is only available to characters created in that league and at the end of the league, your characters, their items, and everything you have saved in your stash during the league is moved to standard, where you have access to all of your previous characters and items.
Basically, every four months you start a brand new character and play through the story and build them up through endgame.
I highly recommend both PoE’s to any Diablo player, though if you’re looking for a loot experience like D3/D4, you’ll be a bit disappointed. The drops are tuned around trading.

Ive got more hours played in this beta than 90% of AAA games I paid 60 bucks for. To me, worth it.

Definitely. It’s worth every pennies and I know GGG have been getting a lot of criticism for both POE1 and POE2 development, but if you are looking for a state of the art ARPG: this is it. Can it be better? Sure. But for a new player coming into the ARPG genre, this is a very, very good gateway drug.

If you decided to give this game a try, please try to avoid too many guides or spoils unless you get very stuck, all the act boss fights have been nothing but enjoyable.

Nonetheless, welcome to the beach and enjoy your stay.

Ofc it's worth, even in it's early access state it's one of the best ARPGs.

Definitely. Even when the game comes out you’ll have to replay the campaign and make a new character every league, and there’s plenty of content for a newcomer. Also this game got me to try four other ARPGs. I wouldn’t have known how much I love the genre if this game didn’t push me towards it.

I was wondering the same thing coming from d4. I really loved the paladin but got through pit 110 on him and a sorc and was looking for something new.

I tried this game and 150 hours later I'm still playing 👍
