I saw a bloodmage build that’s just absolutely raining like 20 comets down at a time. Can I replicate that build on my varashta?

Hey everyone.

So this is my first league putting any real time into the game and I started with the djinn varashta build up until about 91 -92 where I felt like I hit a brick wall with damage.

I since have swapped to a rudimentary comet build, but I saw a YT video of a blood mage comet build that had abiut 20 comets raining down when CoC was procced.

My question is, is that something I can recreate in my varashta? Or is that something that’s only able to happen because of blood mage shenanigans.

I don’t mind leveling up a blood mage if I have to, but obviously id rather not since I’ve got so much time invested into the disciple . lol

You won't have the mana to sustain those comets.

BM can sustain coz they use life as fuel for their spell. They also get way more life instant regen than you can get with mana

You can definitely do this. For CoC to proc more, you need your crits to do a bigger portion of the ennemy’s ailment threshold per hit.

Want more CoC? Then you need more damage. That’s as simple as this. There are no Bloodmage shenanigans involved, even though their Lifetap ascendancy can help with mana sustain, it’s not required.

Yes you can do that on Varashta, but your armour piece needs to be the covenant. Then you need to use lifetap for all your spells. That's the only way it works.

People don't seem to understand that raining comets is a matter of understanding how to rapid trigger COC. And the only way to do it reliably is with spell leech and "leech is instant" heart of the diamond or through fast metabolism annoint.

I can rain comets on my stormweaver just as effectively aswell, and I could easily swap to Varashta and do the same.

You would need to run the covenant to replicate it. It won’t be as good as bloodmage though. You need to be casting from life AND leeching from life to get close to this. I would also recommend getting some instant leech on a heart of the well to sustain then run 2 comets and it is nuts.

yes and no.

the other posters are greatly overstating the difference.

anyone can do a cast on crit+comet setup. especially any sorc/witch. Does Bloodwitch synergize with it well/better? yes. that is also true.

Stormweaver is also a better option for coc/coea then vrashta as well I believe.. (cast on elemental ailment. which is also a viable option.)

bloodwitch can make all spells ahve a 15% base crit chance. While cold spells have an 11-15% base crit normally. so anyone can focus on cold and get the high crit chances with the same effort. while fire/lighting have lower base chances, thus opens some options for bloodwitch.

mana cost is a major factor once you get high coc/coea chance. as you start vomiting out comets, its expensive. bloodwitch can convert some of the cost to life, and then with life leech and regen, outpace it.
stormweaver has "you have arcane surge", arcane surge effect, and inc mana regen to help. also spell crit, and infusions, which can go into infused comets.

You need a huge budget with cost efficiency to make it decent. My level 40 comets are 280 mana each and I'm constantly out of mana, but I also kill everything instantly.

Yes, im running a ice nova/CoC disciple. I rain comets but I also have probably 2 mirrors invested in the character, and still I struggle with mana sustain at times. BM is by far the superior option, but it's possible on disciple.

Yeah, covenant robe for life leech from spells. 100% crit chance on spark. Good dps to make sure it procs coc quickly. Spell cascade and energy retention on coc comet helps it rain lots! Lifetap support for the leech to work.

I league started invoker flicker and went spark coc after a week 1. I stacked es and used blood magic. Had es overflow leech from soul tether belt. Once i had really good divs later i swapped to mana stack.

This build rains and does temples well becuz hh. Not as safe as es stack but mana does good enough. You can put this gear and make a similar tree with any acen. Invoker needs less spirit for coc tho :)

Edit: i tried ele weak doedre a few times. Didnt like the visuals.

Edit2: here is a search for tether covenant combo builds on ur acen https://poe.ninja/poe2/builds/vaal?items=The+Covenant%2CSoul+Tether&class=Disciple+of+Varashta&skills=Comet

Here is my varashta, comets rain. I found Frostbolt works best after tons of testing different skills cause high crit chance and magnitude of chill. I was using a shakepit for fork and had the line removed so I could ricochet until my damage got so high that I could just run kalandras touch instead.

Stacking hp and mana with a corrupt rathpith

Replicate? No. But you can get closeish by slotting in Pinpoint Critical on key skills and using ideal critchance jewels. A Rathpith with Cultivated critchance would go a long way as well.

I decided to try stacking energy shield - at minimum level.

I got bored at this stage in the league and decided to spend many of my hard earned divines on a small project. Wouldn't it be funny to stack Energy shield for a min-level char? [https://poe.ninja/poe2/pob/1a027](https://poe.ninja/poe2/pob/1a027) Tabula rasa has relevant jewel mods noted on it in POB so the math actually works out since it doesn't seem to work properly in POB. second screenshot is with a lvl 29 discipline aura with 36% increased aura magnitude - I didn't wanna spend another several thousand divines on a support character, I just wanted to see how well it would work theoretically >3000 ES without aurabot is possible, however, its basically impossible in practice. As of now, there are \*18\* 2 socket uncorrupted crown of thorns left on trade - on average it takes \~11 to hit a 30% and then another 1 in 3 to get a 3 socket one. Hitting a double corrupt on said 3 socket would be better then my current one, but that's not plausible sadly. Same for the boots. Hitting a better double corrupt on the gloves and focus would likely be plausible, but I couldn't buy more bases from Finn. Grip of Kulemak 59% ES \*should\* be possible, but it already took me over 40 attempts to hit 57% so I think I'll just leave it as is. Belt I didn't find any other way besides the 25% corrupt to get ES without a level requirement - if anyone has any idea tell me. Amulet could sanctify for 19/19 but again, would require silly amounts of currency (each try is \~30 div as is with annoint + sanctify + quality). I \*think\* patient barrier should be best annoint, but correct me if I'm wrong. Total investment into this character so far is about 3000 divines, probably a bit more. further thoughts \- maximum technically possible is 3112 ES at level 2 unless I'm missing something important. POB [https://poe.ninja/poe2/pob/1a02a](https://poe.ninja/poe2/pob/1a02a) \- doubting this but: is it possible to get an ascendency at this low level by skipping straight to geonor with a helper? In which case it might be possible that xp penalties kicking it would allow me to ascend at lvl 2? This would allow +20% +20% (ascendency) +60% (jewel) ES, which would get me to 3218 ES (actual build) / 3732 ES (max technically possible) Did I miss anything?

Rakiata who?

Rakiata who?

I made an elemental crossbow varashta sorc this season as my starting build (goal was to exploit yoke of suffering's full potential, you can find poe ninja below, don't be fooled by the dmg tooltip, it kill ubers before they can move) and so since I was in the intel side of the tree I used my weapon swap to maximize exposure (with whispering ice) and curse magnitude. Here with some non-optimized gear I'm reaching a total of -338% res (that's -169% on bosses), meaning it's better than rakiata's. I use cursed ground support to apply the curse and icestorm (which comes with the staff) with prolonged duration and potent exposure to make the exposure last longer. This tech doesn't require much investment apart from your weapon swap and a few sockets at most so it can be plugged into many elemental builds. As it is now, it requires you to cast the spells with your weapon swap, so I use it mostly for bosses, but i might cast icestorm on bulky rares in juiced maps once in a while. If you have a skill dedicated for mapping, it'll propably better to use rakiata on it, and remove it or use another skill for bosses. Here's the poeninja: [https://poe.ninja/poe2/profile/McZaatar-0907/character/Dendjala](https://poe.ninja/poe2/profile/McZaatar-0907/character/Dendjala) I might make a build showcase if people are interested, it's a fun league starter build. With yoke and the electrocution node on the tree, enemies have 120% damage taken, more if they're cursed, on top of the giant res drop, plus you benefit from a lot of the "damage against enemies with ailments nodes" so that's why the tooltip is low (explosive grenades indicate 60k in game but they hit bosses for like 2M) at first I was playing with permafrost bolt with frost nexus + navira's fracture + fragmentation rounds, it was a fun combo and really strong for leveling but I couldn't scale navira's fracture damage in late game (I had command + minion nodes on my second weapon instead of the curse/exposure at the time) Hope this inspires some of you!
