Help a hopefully new player

I've been wanting to try PoE 2 since it first launched but was always overwhelmed by the amount of sht the game has. I had the game on wishlist and my friend messaged me and sent a code but it was only a code to unlock the game on steam library and not let you actually play it. Now I wanted to buy the game for myself but steam is telling me I already own it. Will this be a problem?

You might need to make an account on poe2 website, I wouldn't buy just yet!

You can buy it multiple times and you can get multiple access codes that way. You can check them when you login with your steam account on the poe website to manage ypur account. So tldr: no problem, buy it through steam or thr poe shop and you will have am access code.
