Why is the game so hated in steam

Read the dates of the negative reviews and check the amount of hours that negative reviewers have played. If someone plays 1000h then leaves a negative review there must've been some drastic changes that they didn't like.

The dates often correspond with patches where GGG made unpopular changes or straight up introduced bugs. For example early this league there's been people spending dozens of hours optimizing their temple, only to see GGG releasing major changes mid-league bricking their temple. Then GGG reverted some of these changes.

The game is still classified as mostly positive, with 300k players at league starts and 10k players 2 months after the start.

While I'm still enjoying PoE2, I can understand a lot of people's frustrations. I think a lot of people were let down by the endgame rework being moved to 0.5 as the current endgame is both quick to become boring and repetitive, but also distressingly outclassed by the Temple for many players.

I've run into a good few people that are pure dooming about the game because they believe the Temple is the only viable way to play the game (it's not) and they end up completely frustrated with the game because of it.

I've added 300+ hours to my playtime this league alone so I'm totally with you that the game is still fun as hell. But it is hard to deny how badly it needs that

Some PoE1 fanboys hate PoE2 with a passion. If I had to guess who gives PoE2 most shit, I would bet on them.

Personally I use standalone launcher and don't read steam reviews.

Don't trust reviews on video games. If you enjoy something, you enjoy it. Seeking validation ruins enjoyment, same goes with music, movies, whatever (not saying you are doing this, just general advice.)

Not to mention that kids have temper tantrums and will do targeted review bombs over the most trivial shit.

When they change something the players don't like many will review negative. GGG does listen and usually reverts changes that anger people but many never bother to revert their review.

I have been close to writing bad reviews at least 4 times pr week because some features in the game makes me so damn angry. Mainly the one chance only for maps. If you fail a 6-mod map because of lag or some invisible oneshot shit, then you have to replay the map with no effect of precursors. That thing alone pisses me of immensely, and it's completely unnecessary. As long as the game is so unfinished, laggy and buggy as it is now, on top of all the unnecessary punishment baked into the game, then some people will make bad reviews.

The game is sitting at "mostly positive" pretty much regardless of how you slice the reviews.

Some negative reviews are deranged and factually wrong (as is always the case) but plenty of others have perfectly reasonable criticisms.

Honestly it seems like a normal steam review section to me.

If you think this is "hated" I urge you to get some perspective. Go look at the steam reaviews for the latest CoD game or something.

Game runs worse on steam so that doesn’t help, after deleting it from steam and downloading it from the poe2 website launcher it ran much better
