2. as many as you can, but you can start with 0. Just pile on paths and throwaway rooms on the other side of your temple so destabilization can have a higher chance of hitting those instead of your chain

3. yes, at the end of the second chain, instead of commander in the corner, you do armoury instead, then in a straight line to the bottom left you finish off with alch-thauma-corruption chamber. That leaves a spot next to the alch lab to place atziri’s RAC. Just be careful to not misclick when placing it, otherwise the chance to make a loop is high.
