How often do you die?

Recently I took a break from league (bricked temple several times) but was baited to play again as Hollow palm + CoC comet invoker monk. Flashy video of playstyle, melted bosses etc. Blasted through campaign (about 10 hours), 1 leeched temple run (20+ lvl in no time), sinked all my savings (3k divs) for decent gear, fully pumped and exited slamming into 15 lvl map and died in 10 seconds. Checked resistances, gear, build, all seemed ok. Another 15lvl map, another quick and painful death in no time. Invested in stun threshold, ES, evasion even more. Another map with whooping 2 minutes lifespan. Generally I do understand what is wrong with my char but as I reading comments in this sub it seems fast death is a part of gameplay. So, question is in title. Linking poeninja for reference: https://poe.ninja/poe2/profile/parad0xer-5755/character/Hollowslapomat

I die a lot even at level 100. I think a lot of survivability comes from hitstun, as in just making contact before monsters do. Even if you're not oneshotting things, if you can make an effort to roll at and hit anything before it reacts to you. I'm nearly unkillable and facetank basically everything with 88% evasion (so cheap) but I still die plenty. Authentic act of touching first basically ensures the kill. Sure act 1 their head bobs and they cast and ya thats an opportunity to die. At your level, they'll die before their hitstun wears off. So prioritize that. Magnified area if you need it. Just make dang contact first.

I think main deal if you want to progress: find a way to not give a shit about dying. Also buy omens of amelioration. Fat stacks. Always have one active, but also: you can only pop one per instance. So if you die a bunch in a map or temple, that omen will only work the first time. Just be easy and take things slower is always always always a good bet if your weapon won't carry you through content. Which leads to the next point: what's your glove/jewelry/weapon looking like? Great starts, upgrade the worst one first.

Hmu if you need those omens I'll buy you a few stacks

Also also: I skipped through some of your post and only replied to the title: I league started that build! Hell yeah you can die. Melee is difficult but it kind of really gels if you can kinda finesse dodge rolling, a VERY short sprint, into whirling assault, into roll/sprint again, there's a weird cadence to it that you gotta just master, but if you can time that last little bit of invulnerability at the end of your sprint with the startup of whirling assault, you can basically spin yourself through a whole map. Having a reallllly nice staff helps too. I'm happy to gift some things but I also don't want to spoil your journey.

Maybe the headhunter is doing the heavy lifting for me. I’m level 99 45% to 100. I don’t die unless I’ve monster damage on the map or corpse explode mod that surprises me in the temple. And yeah monkey coming out of nowhere in the temple and his slam one shots. I’m playing poison pathfinder with 55% evasion. Hybrid setup. You could get your evasion up a little bit.

I saw a video about this build and was also tempted to run it hahaha. My last monk in 0.2 also had issues dying frequently, he was very very squishy. I usually aim to die at most once per map. With my pathfinder I rarely died, but that build was ranged and horribly overpowered. With more off-meta builds at T15 I die every 3 maps or so.

I see you only have life leech on Staggering Palm, perhaps that's why? Perhaps you need a better source of leech, although I don't know this build very well. That, or you need more damage output for this leech.

6 times this season (HC), most of the time at near 90. I have no clue what happened at each dead.

Looking over your build, I would recommend getting more deflection rating. The problem with just evasion is the way it works you will eventually take a hit. All it takes is for that one hit to by physical over the 6k and deflection not going off for it to be a one shot. Other than that you could try upping your ES higher or like others said work on how you're killing things.

I played a storm wave hollow palm monk last season and had a similar issue if I didn't kill them first. Deflection rating definitely helped me take the few hits that normally would have killed me.
