Learning curve with this game is rough.

I had one character that I got to level 79. I then realized that I didn’t have the character in the current league, doh! I started a second character and got him in the league. I’m 37 levels in and I now learned what SSF means. I wish it was clearer what the game modes mean. I don’t really want to start over again so I guess I’ll plow through this season in SSF. Ohh well. League is way more fun than standard, at least I have that going for me.

you're starting over every new league anyway, I don't see the problem

So FYI, each new season, we all start the new league from scratch. No stash, back to character select. Your previous season characters get moved to the persistent realm which you've already experienced, but most don't play it.

So yeah it sucks restarting several times accidentally on your first go, but now you know, and you'll be ready come next league.

Things you find complex today, you'll find simple tomorrow, and a new challenge will be there to overcome.

It explicitly tells you what it means

I noticed some Path of Exile keywords in this post:

  • SSF - Solo Self-Found (Wiki)

Im going to hop on this and ask what type of scaler for damage. I have a ranger, does dexterity increase my damage. Other option would be if its build buffs only.

Learning curve is insane.  Never played poe1. Basically just rolling hardcore characters till they die, slowly pushing further and further with them.  Finally getting to act 2 felt so good.

That poison cloud bitch djinni boss fkd me up though.  Idk what's with that.  I hope other bosses aren't as confusing.  I think that one is optional so maybe it's my bad for trying her as right away, no idea

You're just scratching the surface. Give it another year or so and you won't know where to begin.

SSF is very, very hard. It is not recommended unless you have a very high knowledge about the game, the gear and crafting with just a few mats.

A very, very mediocre player like myself plays currently his first high toon, a Lich 96. Nothing that char has was self found. All his successes come from temple leeching, he would be a shit stain without other, better players.

I would recommend you to buy as little items as possible. You will get a completely different feel of struggle and reward if you play based on self found and vendor loot. Up to lvl 90 it's quite easy to rely on non-traded items.

If you buy thing from the beginning, you miss out of the joy of finding good items, and you learn slower.

I play ssf in trade league, I don't buy items before I really need it, and I allow myself to use currency exchange during the whole game.
