Your beefier rig is just smashing the new multithreading harder (the #1 culprit for “new PC = crashes in 10 min or pre-load”). Happens xD
Updated 2026 PoE2 crash checklist (fixes 90 % of these cases):
- Engine Multithreading OFF → Graphics settings → turn it completely off. This single toggle has saved more 4090/7800X3D rigs than anything else.
- Renderer swap → Try Vulkan (usually best FPS). If it insta-crashes on launch, close the game, go to Documents\My Games\Path of Exile 2\poe2_production_Config.ini change renderer_type=Vulkan to renderer_type=DirectX12 (or even DirectX11 as last resort).
- Delete shader cache → Steam → PoE2 → Properties → Installed Files → “Delete shader cache”. First 15–20 min will stutter while it rebuilds — that’s normal.
- Fullscreen Optimizations OFF → Right-click the PoE2 exe (or Steam shortcut) → Properties → Compatibility → tick both “Disable fullscreen optimizations” + “Run as administrator”.
- Pagefile + drivers → Still 100 % relevant: set pagefile to system managed (or 32–64 GB manual). Then DDU in Safe Mode + fresh GPU drivers (NVIDIA/AMD, not Windows ones).
Bonus: if you’re on Windows 11 24H2, some people roll back to 23H2 for rock-solid stability.
What GPU/RAM are you rocking and which renderer were you on when it died?
