POE2 Loot Filter Customization

Hey everyone,

I'm hoping someone can help me please?

I am new to creating and editing loot filters and have tried customizing my own on poe2filter.com as well as FilterBlade, but I cannot get it to look they way I see on the Youtube Videos of some filters.

The filters I am talking about show this beautiful opaque background that matches the item text and then the items have matching coloured borders around the text, but the borders only show on the top and bottom and leave the sides open as shown in the attached pic.

I think it looks amazing and makes items really pop, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to make the borders look like that. I can get the item and background text colour correct, and I can get a border set as well, but the border always shows on the edges of the item as well, and I want the border to only show on the top and bottom.

Would appreciate any help or info.

Are you adamant on making your own? This looks like Neversink Filter so maybe try that

I might be wrong but I think it's the beam combined with the background opaqueness that creates the effect you are looking for. In filterblade click to customize, click on any category, click BG (background) and you'll see a horizontal slide that goes left for transparent and right for opaque. You want to set it somewhere in between and activate a beam. The borders (BD )and text (TX) also have an opaqueness slider that might be contributing to the effect. It's probably going to take you a trial and error with several attempts but you should be able to get it right.

Hey! Creater of poe2filter here. Indeed that effect is really cool. It functions in quite an intricate way.

First, what it does: it add a line on top and at the bottom of the box, *in the color of the label text*, with a gradient towards the center, and fading out at the edges. It will only *brighten* the background, never *darken*. It's like the Photoshop filter 'Lighter color' or something (I'm not an expert).

This only appears when you're close to the item, not when you're far away from it.

Note that it uses the *text color*, that's why for magic items it's blue, rare items it's yellow, etc. The effect ignores the border or background color.

Setting a background color or even a border color doesn't prevent this from happening (the effect will display *on top of* your border color, for instance), however, if your text color is darker than your background color, the effect disappears entirely, since it only 'brightens' the background.

For higher drop tiers to stand out, I use an 'accentuated' color, with a bright background and tier-colored dark text, which stands out much more than the default darker background with bright text; and a tier-colored dark background is just plain ugly. Unfortunately that means that for the higher-tiered currency drops, this effect disappears (by default, for higher-tier *item* drops, I don't change the label colors).
