Endgame staff users question

TLDR: how much mana do you have and have you considered the prefix 5% spell damage per 100 mana? 4800+ beats perfect t1 spell? Ty

Hey there and a question to any and all staff users. I had no idea people were dropping mirrors still on staffs but sold one for 2 mirrors last night. I play with wand and have dozens of mirrors in gear and mana stack like most.

I noticed for the first time in 100s of crafts last night that there’s a very good looking prefix I had never considered viable which was 5% spell damage per 100 mana” I actually thought it was just life so always rolled past it. However, if a player has only 4800+ mana, that mod would actually be superior to a perfect rolled t1 spell damage and probably way cheaper to hit. For me, that’s equivalent to 420 spell damage from simply that desecrated mod. When I checked the market on a t1 gain as/spell damage/“5% per 100” and perfect suffix it would have given me 658 spell damage and was auto priced at bricked price.

A lot of people completely ignore the ulaman/kurgal/amanamu affixes when crafting. E.g. if you look at top end bow builds, many players will have the Kurgal prefix "increased bonuses gained from Equipped Quiver", but if you actually try buying a decent bow you will notice most players settle for the shitty accuracy/increased phys prefix instead of using the optimal one.

Same with crossbows. There's two suffixes, "attacks chain an additional time" and "grenades have #% chance to activate a second time" which are insane for their respective builds (e.g. Galvanic Shards and Explosive Grenade), but finding a mirror-tier crossbow with them is often difficult.

Part of it may be that some might perceive these items as being harder to sell, especially if it causes a weapon to look 'worse' when you sort by damage (such as in the bow example above), or by replacing a high demand affix (e.g. T1 spell damage) that players may input in their search paramaterers, but at the end of the day someone smarter will find your item anyway.

I think the main issue is that top end staves are forced to compete with wand and rath setups.

Another overlooked stat is spell damage % for spells that cost life. Pretty often you can find those staves at half the price of similar versions.

When you have 4800 mana you want rathpith instead.
