Level 20 Spellingsinger worth the expense or nah?

Title says it all. Think the extra support slot if worth the expense of jumping to level 20 from lvl 17 if the rest of the wand is the same?

edit wtf auto correct lol

I can't speak about spellslinger specifically, as i don't play wand, but i do think it is sort of build specific imho. However, i had a decent lvl20 sigil of power chiming staff and changed it for a lvl18 one. I didn't notice that one missing support link and i was able to sell my old staff for more than the cost of my upgrade. I know that spellslinger is different, cause you actually use it more actively than a sigil of power, which is mainly for boss fights. I also think once your dps is high enough, it doesn't really matter.

Depends on what expense you're talking about. If you're crafting one yourself I'd almost rather start with a 28-30% quality level 20 over an exceptional 2 socket lvl 18 or 19. If you're buying one then probably not worth it. A zero spirit cost auto-cast meta gem is really strong. If you're using any damaging spell in there an extra support gem is a big deal, if you're using it as some utility skill then it's less important.

the difference is 48% increased energy gained at level 17 vs 57% at level 20. So 9% only. You decide how much these are worth for you.

Nah it’s just for vanity tbh. By time you ask yourself that question, your build is capable of clearing all content with extreme ease. If it isn’t, Spellslinger isn’t the issue. It’s a mirror tier upgrade for one support gem on a skill you don’t even have to press and still get the same results pretty much.

Its more of a min-maxing thing, only thing that changes is that you get one more socket, but not worth it imo, not build enabling, not worth the money

It's a more noticeable difference than most 19->20 upgrades because it's a meta skill. So you're already using 1 slot for the skill itself, which means you really only get 3 supports for spellslinger <20. At 20, you can now use four, which is a pretty big boost.

Whether it's "worth the expense" is a much more nuanced question that depends on a million variables, of course.

I'd wager that for MOST players, upgrading spellslinger from 18 or 19->20 is a decent upgrade, but not insane. The cost of it means it's probably low on the list of priorities due to its relatively poor cost efficiency (how much actually better does your build get for a given amount of divines spent)

EDIT: Like, to be more specific, I'd wager most builds do far more DPS buying a spellslinger 19 wand with better mods on it than a spellslinger 20 wand of the same cost (which means its affixes are worse)

I rather get lv18 with 2 sockets over lv20 1 socket

In some instances I’d say it’s better than the extra damage from a 2nd rune slot if a 2 socket 20 base is out of the question, which is the case for most.

I run Ele Weakness + Doedre’s in mine and that last support is crucial for my particular setup. If you’re running something such as Arc, I’d argue it’s nowhere near as important.

Basically - is what you’re putting in there enabling the build in some way or is it just some extra DPS or more casts (Efficiency)?

I use mine to cast spark with propulsion, pierce, and living lightning, to help wake up the constructs in temple.

Honestly don’t think another socket would matter much. Just depends your use case. I’d definitely go with 18 and 2 sockets.
