People have gotten so comfortable with letting a computer do all the work for them.
I'm 30 and I'm going to college for the first time. There are a lot of team projects and these kids are clueless. we had 3 weeks to do a project, 1 week before it's due, we have a team meeting and they ALL were surprised that I had finished my part of the project. They not only didn't start, they had no idea what we were supposed to do. It's always this way.
As a 28 y/o back in college to finish my degree, I can confirm. Makes me really grateful for my education, and I’m not that much older. Scary.
I don’t think I would use a child who failed a speech class 3 times as a barometer for the entirety of the younger generation’s intelligence and overall mental competency but sure, you do that thing old people do…
I’m scared for my grad program. I’ve been out of school for 5 years, and with the economy where it’s at, I’m worried a good chunk of students in my master program are going to be kids delaying entry into the job market
There's always been dumb kids in college but you have to take a test to even get into community college. This video highlighted ONE student vs how many are in her class.
This is exactly why we are about to witness a MASS teacher exodus. Teachers are fed up.
We don’t pay them enough to deal with any of this and it’s an impossible situation to fix when the government is systematically destabilizing the ENTIRE education system.
Congratulations US, we are the United States of Idiocracy.
I went to college after the military. I was much older than the other students and was used to a lot of adversity.
I was floored by not only how intelligent and capable the students were, but also how driven they were. I learned a lot from my classmates.
I think some older students project their insecurities about being older students onto younger ones. They look for weaknesses to justify their own experience.
It’s dumb. Just be humble. Everyone has something to learn from other people, even the “dumb” ones.
Daughter is 24 and has a BS, currently going for her masters. I guess she knows her field well enough, but anything else, it’s crazy what she doesn’t know. Couldn’t define what a verb is, thought quarter after 4 was 4:25, had to sign an application for something and only signed her first name, didn’t know last name was required, thought the president’s term was 2 years (refuses to vote as well because she doesn’t care about politics). So yeah, cooked.
