Footage (mostly audio) from group taken hostage by gunman at the top of Mexico's Teotihuacan pyramids.

Guy killed two visitors and wounded several others before blowing his brains out. He was apparently inspired by the Columbine shooting, and today is its anniversary.

The response was severely lacking as security guards there are neither armed nor trained for this type of thing. They're literally just rent-a-cops. Teotihuacan is in a small town where the police force is also severely underprepared for something like this.

What a piece of shit. Terrorizing innocent others and murdering others just to off yourself. I hope his soul rots in hell.

What a sad world we live in. It's always heartbreaking to see when kids are caught up in shyt like this.

Unfortunately the best thing we can probably do is to ignore incidents like this. I know every person involved will never have that luxury, but giving Columbine as much attention as the media did is a large part of why we're still getting imitators like this guy today. Family members of the deceased are welcome to grieve, people involved are welcome to go to therapy, politicians are welcome to legislate solutions to prevent this stuff from happening where it makes sense, but we need to stop culturally obsessing over this stuff. There are so many shootings and tragedies every single day, but we give all of this attention to mass shooters that are so far away from us and it just feeds into the glorification of them by future perpetrators.
