Huge drop in engagement for carousel posts, what should I do?

I’ve been posting on my account for over a year and have grown to 300k followers. I usually post 3-4 reels a day and one carousel post. My engagement has been consistent, ranging from 4-5k likes to 1M and I hit a million likes on a post at least once a month.

Since the start of this year I’ve been less consistent, posting 1-2 times a day with breaks. Last week my engagement was strong, but in the past couple of days my carousel posts have dropped to 400-600 likes that’s the lowest I’ve ever had. What’s strange it’s they start well in the first 10-15 minutes, then completely die, which makes it feel like they’re being suppressed. Has anyone else experienced this if so have any advice? I’m thinking about taking a break from carousels.

Not suppression likely drop in saves & swipe depth. Tighten hook, keep 5–7 slides, add strong “save/swipe” CTA.
Test a few posts before quitting.

probably more of an account momentum thing than a carousel thing. you said yourself you've been posting 1-2x with breaks since january vs 3-4x daily before. algo just gives you a smaller initial test audience when recent posting gets patchy, the dead first 10 mins is pretty much what that looks like from the inside.

wouldn't pull carousels yet. go back to your old cadence for 2-3 weeks, then you'll actually know if it's the format

I’ve noticed the same drop lately. It feels like as soon as we figure out a format, the algorithm shifts again. As someone still pretty new to the technical side of things, I’ve started moving away from relying purely on carousels to tell the whole story. Instead, I’ve been using one strong image to drive people to a dedicated "mini-site" where I have more control.

I’ve been using Tiiny Host for this because I’m definitely not a developer—I just zip up my folder, drag and drop it, and it's live instantly. It’s been a lot less stressful than fighting the carousel reach. If the platforms are going to keep changing the rules, I’d rather send people to a fast, simple page that I actually own.

Any people that runs 100 to 10k followers pages (any social media)?

Hey all, I own a business that involves many clients that promote their product, art or website with TikTok (also Instagram, Youtube and Facebook). I want to offer them a way to post their content, or to get content created and posted for them on existing TikTok pages. Basically you got pages in a specific theme (sport, anime, cinema, culture, memes...) and you rent it for a specific period of time. You get paid every month, and all you have to do is basically connecting the account once to our system. You can opt-out anytime you want, you keep the full ownership of the account. That's basically a way to monetize your pages passively. For now I'm doing it myself with my own pages (3 tiktok pages with 500 to 3k followers, and 1 6k subscribers Youtube channel), I made around $800 renting these for less than a month.
