Fuck this. Its been proven that the vastajority in that Christy Nome prison visit were not gang related and the us government was trying to manipulate public opinion by demonizing these people to justify exporting people from the usa to that prison.

I was looking at the statistics and they apparently arrested 91 500 persons.

The homicide rate went from 53,3/100 000 in 2018, to 7,8 in 2022 to 1,3-1,9 in 2025.

They have now the highest incarceration rate in the world 1,8% of its population is behind bars.

I think in a perfect world, each of these guys would get an individual trial and a rigorous defense. But El Salvador has arrested so many people in such a short amount of time they literally don't have enough judges, lawyers and court staff in the country to perform trials in a reasonable time. It's obviously a problem that the Bukele should try to address (he won't), but domestic polls show the majority of the country support the crackdown and mass arrests.

Heard something really scary this week from my brother in dc. He’s a lawyer and he told me that they are now kidnapping lawyers defending undocumented people and deporting them to places like these simply for doing their job. It’s one of those things where they hear about it happening in the community. A lawyer will go to meet a client and never come home. That shook me to my core imagining my brother disappearing one day and being sent to a place like this simply for doing the right thing. Fascism is here. All ice has to do is claim someone like my brother is a gang member with no evidence and deport him.
