My findings on social media

I am working on an extension that essentially gets rid of negativity and slop on your feed. The AI, ragebait, engagement farming, negativity, all of it, the chrome extension I was building catches it in real time.

I'm genuinely shocked by what I've seen so far.

Results:

  • 90% of twitter's for you section post were collapsed by the extension and marked red
  • 100% of linkedin is pure engagement bait, bragging, everything collapsed
  • Reddit is a mixed environment, but leans 60% crap as we can all see

I wanted to filter social media. But I realized you can't really filter it. Seeing red constantly as I was scrolling by, I realized no tool can fix this broken mess. You just can't.

Social media is essentially I don't even know what to say.

Just wanted to share my findings.

Not surprising most feeds are optimized for engagement, not value. Real solution = better curation + mindful usage.

lmao the 100% linkedin number doesnt surprise me at all, that platform is basically just people humble bragging about their job changes. the twitter stat is wild though, didnt realize it was that bad

The LinkedIn number is painfully accurate lol. “I failed 47 times and now I’m a millionaire, here’s what I learned” energy on every single scroll. Honestly the fact that 90% of Twitter FYP got flagged says more about the algorithm than the users, it actively rewards the worst content. Cool project though, curious what signals the extension is actually catching to classify something as ragebait.

I'm going a different route. Developing a whole new social media app. Everything is different ant centered around minimising rage bait, AI slop, tracking, data collection, scams, bots, fake accounts, misinformation and propaganda. I need some validation data but most subs don't allow surveys to be posted, including this one (already asked mods if they'll make an exception). What are some of the biggest pain points for you and how would you solve it if you were building an app?

LinkedIn at 100% is hilarious and depressing. The platform has become a theater of performative professionalism. Humble brags, inspirational word salad, and fake vulnerability. There's almost no signal left. Just noise. Your extension confirming that is both validation and sadness.

The linkedin number being 100% is somehow both shocking nd completely unsurprising at the same time. The red everywhere realization is interesting tho - like the filter working perfectly actually made it worse to use because it just made the problem visible all at once. Curious what the classification model looks like, defining "negativity" nd "engagement bait" in a way that doesn't collapse half of legitimate discussion must've been the hardest part to get right

This is kinda the paradox if you filter too well, there’s barely anything left to consume. Feels less like a tooling problem and more like incentive design of platforms. Even solid attempts like some AI filters, Runable, or other feed cleaning tools hit the same wall. Your data’s wild though 90% getting nuked says a lot.

Any people that runs 100 to 10k followers pages (any social media)?

Hey all, I own a business that involves many clients that promote their product, art or website with TikTok (also Instagram, Youtube and Facebook). I want to offer them a way to post their content, or to get content created and posted for them on existing TikTok pages. Basically you got pages in a specific theme (sport, anime, cinema, culture, memes...) and you rent it for a specific period of time. You get paid every month, and all you have to do is basically connecting the account once to our system. You can opt-out anytime you want, you keep the full ownership of the account. That's basically a way to monetize your pages passively. For now I'm doing it myself with my own pages (3 tiktok pages with 500 to 3k followers, and 1 6k subscribers Youtube channel), I made around $800 renting these for less than a month. Everything dying at 300 views for so long before I finally caught the problem

I've been absolutely obsessed with short form content for the last two years. Like people have staged actual interventions about my health level of obsessed. Why this level of obsession? Because I'm absolutely certain short form video is the backbone of everything right now. Growing followers, selling anything, generating opportunities, creating brands from nothing. Every part of it depends on whether you can hold someone's attention for 30 seconds. But here's what nearly made me quit entirely: despite the constant daily grind, nothing was hitting. I'd pour 7-8 hours into crafting one video only to watch it crash at 300 views. Tried every tactic from every person claiming to have figured it out. Bought their courses. Applied their "proven" methods. Still going nowhere.
