I thought I made a fun video but it flopped on every platform, why?

I'm an artist struggling to make a business account work, it's not working. I've been given advice to do more personal/lifestyle stuff for people to get to know me. Since I make book related art, and one of my products is a library themed item, I thought it would be fun to make a library sale haul kind of video for booktok.

Link to video I posted it on instagram and it got 20 views the first day, and currently at 50 views. On tiktok it did very badly on the first day, on the second day it climbed to 240 views, barely any likes.

I thought the video was fun and original take on a book haul video, and I enjoy watching it. Can I get some advice because I feel so demotivated making videos and might just consider this account a failure and call it quits.

1.) The algorithm is not just tik tok, it’s “people” who are watching your content and frankly, finding it boring.

2.) Intro is way too short, within a blink it jumps to the video

> make sure the video you upload you yourself would stop scrolling to watch it, you're on your couch, scrolling mindlessly, and you'd stop to watch this piece of content

> you gotta accept the the algo is sometimes random, same video from my account could get 10x or even 100x the same video from your account

I’ve been there, making something you genuinely like and then it just… dies. It sucks, but it usually isn’t because the idea is bad.

Most of the time it’s packaging, not content. The first 1–2 seconds decide everything. If the hook isn’t instantly clear or scroll-stopping, the algorithm just doesn’t push it further, no matter how good the rest is.

Also “fun for you” vs “clear for a stranger” is a big gap. What makes sense to you might not be obvious to someone seeing it cold on their feed.

What helped me was treating posts like experiments, not judgments. Same idea, different hook, different opening frame, different caption. One version flops, another suddenly works.

And low views early doesn’t always mean it’s dead, sometimes it just didn’t get enough initial signals to spread.

Any people that runs 100 to 10k followers pages (any social media)?

Hey all, I own a business that involves many clients that promote their product, art or website with TikTok (also Instagram, Youtube and Facebook). I want to offer them a way to post their content, or to get content created and posted for them on existing TikTok pages. Basically you got pages in a specific theme (sport, anime, cinema, culture, memes...) and you rent it for a specific period of time. You get paid every month, and all you have to do is basically connecting the account once to our system. You can opt-out anytime you want, you keep the full ownership of the account. That's basically a way to monetize your pages passively. For now I'm doing it myself with my own pages (3 tiktok pages with 500 to 3k followers, and 1 6k subscribers Youtube channel), I made around $800 renting these for less than a month.
