I was close friends with the only black football player in our rural Michigan town (I didn't play). His teammates treated him so so badly, and he would always have a smile and go along with it. I'd constantly ask why he put up with their shit, and his response was always 'I don't really have a choice.' It made me really sad.

This goes beyond a prank. Also seems like one or both of his friends needs to come out of the closet and really most importantly stop being a fucking asshole.

These are alpha jerks. Maybe racists. But before diversity they'd have picked anyone they liked. Anyway, people doing these "pranks" often mistake it for humiliation.

I can appreciate the point the guy is trying to make for the second half of the video but I am not sure the first half really is an example of that.

The racism the token person of color usually get's is more subtle than that, less malicious but still hurtful. No one is cumming in your glass of water when you are the token black guy; they're asking you about rap music or trying to speak slang with you like they're "the cool white guy who is down with the black folk".

Sometimes an asshole is just an asshole. They don't need to be racist to be an asshole.
