Straight women and gay men on homophobia vs sexism

Can we just stop generalising groups of people that contain millions and millions of individuals?

It's not a hard concept.

I think the reality is that there are homophobic straight women and additionally there are misogynistic gay men. Both groups have a right to point this out when they see it in the other group. Both groups should provide safety to one another - I think they equally owe it to each other as people oppressed by patriarchy and should be allies.

I don’t know if I agree with the theory that the women bringing their bf to the club are the same ones saying ALL gay men are misogynistic. I think it’s entirely possible that their friend who WANTS to support gay men feels wrongly entitled to bring their bf to the club. Just like I have plenty of gay men friends who have said misogynistic things in front of me, without hating women. We just all have been raised in a homophobic/misogynistic society, and neither gay men or straight women are immune from absorbing that, even subconsciously.

I think it’s important to check each other of course but this does feel kind of like this person made a very specific theory and got mad at it like its a widely accepted idea that women who think EVERY gay man is misogynistic is also trying to bring their straight boyfriend to the club lol

I don't believe I've ever seen or heard a straight woman hate on gay men.

I've seen and heard straight men hating on gay men and lusting after lesbians.

I've seen and heard lesbians hating on straight men.

I've never heard this argument before.
