Ya you’re right, I loved college so much because of all the walking

Don’t see the connection at all, I live in a walkable country and we also still have theme parks, shopping centres, colleges and concerts.

College is the best 4 years of your life because you're surrounded by people the same age, with barely any responsibilities and you're living without your parents for the first time in your life so it's basically young adult summer camp.

This chick completely misses the point of why we travel to these places lmao. It's because they're new. Whether you're traveling to some walkable European town center (I always rent a car in Europe to drive between cities, villages, out of the way scenic spots, etc anyway), or the Australian outback (try walking that shit), you're generally doing it to see something new - and different.

This is crazy because walkable cities is actually the easiest way to build cities. Just don’t put a bunch of empty fucking space everywhere.

It seems like y’all are focusing on just the word “walkable” when what she’s also implying are places being streamlined and accessible when they’re walkable. For example, no, it’s not that the walking is fun in college — it’s that everything is close enough to be able to easily get to it by walking, which means that your spaces of learning, relaxing, your community in general are all in a smaller area, so they’re more accessible. Want to hang out with your friends in between classes? Go read a book at your favorite tree before going to some sort of club in the evening? Go to an interesting lecture and then out for beers with people to discuss it? Walk to a fun spot for a date? You can do it all in a place like college, which often makes it such a great experience for people. Y’all need to calm down.
