Limiting refills with stuff like this is absolutely the fastest way to never have me buy anything from your establishment again. The limit of my monetary sacrifice to eat out is already the stupidly overpriced food, and y'all tripping if you think I'm scanning shit and paying extra for refills.

In the highly competitive world of fast food, is saving ¢10 of syrup worth that customer not coming back? Knowing how much they pay in advertising to get each customer, the answer is clearly no. It's dumb and bad business.
Restaurants have never served soft drinks to make a profit. This is an example where tech has been sold to monetize something that was always a nothing burger I food cost/profit.
