Not understanding tik tok algorithm

I feel like I’m doing everything I can to try and grow a TikTok channel, but I just don’t understand why my videos aren’t getting more views. All my clips have lots of likes, comments, but low viewership.

In the past month I’ve gotten alerts that several of my videos are doing better than 90% of people with similar follow count. But it just stops there, low views and high rate of likes.

I have a recent clip that has 847 views, 251 likes, and 17 comments. But then views just stop.

My point is, am I wasting my time or has anyone ever had an experience like this and got past it? It feels like I’m in a jail, all while getting pushed ads to promote.

Those numbers don't sound like you're wasting your time. They sound more like the video is doing well with the first small test group, but TikTok isn't seeing the signals it needs to keep expanding it.

Likes and comments are nice, but for distribution I'd look harder at:

average watch time / completion rate
rewatches
shares and saves
whether people are watching past the first 1-2 seconds
whether the topic is clear before someone has to think

A clip can have a huge like percentage at 800 views and still stall if most people swipe early or if the audience pool is too narrow. I would not jump to promoting it yet. Take the posts with the best like/comment ratio and make 3-5 variations: different first line, faster setup, clearer payoff, and maybe a more searchable caption.

If those variations keep getting the same pattern, the issue is probably packaging or audience targeting, not that the account is doomed.

Honestly, with 251 likes and 17 comments on 847 views, I wouldn't assume the content itself is the problem.

One thing I started noticing when looking at TikTok performance is that engagement and reach aren't always the same thing.

A lot of videos get decent engagement from the people who watch them, but the algorithm never gets enough signals to push them to a wider audience.

What helped me was tracking hooks and formats instead of just views.

After a while I noticed the same structures appearing over and over:

"Nobody talks about this, but..." "Most people get this wrong..." "I tested this so you don't have to..." "Here's what nobody explains..."

Once I started paying attention to those patterns, it became much easier to understand why some videos got stuck and others kept getting pushed.

Any people that runs 100 to 10k followers pages (any social media)?

Hey all, I own a business that involves many clients that promote their product, art or website with TikTok (also Instagram, Youtube and Facebook). I want to offer them a way to post their content, or to get content created and posted for them on existing TikTok pages. Basically you got pages in a specific theme (sport, anime, cinema, culture, memes...) and you rent it for a specific period of time. You get paid every month, and all you have to do is basically connecting the account once to our system. You can opt-out anytime you want, you keep the full ownership of the account. That's basically a way to monetize your pages passively. For now I'm doing it myself with my own pages (3 tiktok pages with 500 to 3k followers, and 1 6k subscribers Youtube channel), I made around $800 renting these for less than a month.
