I’ve been making reels for a business account on Instagram, and I’m wondering if it’s better to repost the exact same video on TikTok, or if it’s worth tweaking it a bit first.
Do you usually change the edit, hook, captions.., etc. for each platform? Or just post the same thing everywhere?

I would repost the same core idea, but I would not treat TikTok as a pure copy/paste dump.
A practical split:
If it is a business account, the biggest thing is tracking which idea works across platforms. Sometimes the same video wins on both, but the comment section tells you different buyer objections on each one. That is usually more useful than trying to make every edit totally unique.
So yes, repurpose it. Just give TikTok its own hook/caption pass and judge it by retention, saves, comments, and profile actions instead of views alone.
I post the same things, but often I edit them in app so they are “seen” as original content. If not, I post it to TikTok first and share to IG from there.

TikTok usually needs the hook to feel native and immediate. Instagram can sometimes tolerate a little more polish/aesthetic setup, depending on the niche.
Remove watermarks, adjust captions if needed, and watch the retention separately. If one platform drops early, the problem is probably the opening, not the whole video.
