She's a Killdeer. They pretend to have a broken wing and lead potential predators away from the nest. They are fierce little birds.

That bird is called a Kildeer. They purposely lay their eggs in rocky, loose soil or gravel to hide them in plain sight. The parent birds will also feign having a broken wing around predators and try to lure them away from the nest.

The amount of courage this lil one has can shake the universe

Birds, are the best parents- both the male & female work together to build, feed & protect...they honestly are the best.

We have these in Texas. I do lawncare and she will do this when I mow too close.
