Why are our air-bnb places not booked for the World Cup?

I found a hidden camera in my Airbnb, reported it to the police. The host claimed it was to make sure the "rules of the place were followed" -- which was a similar list of scrub everything, do the laundry, etc. Why that needed a camera in the bedroom is beyond me. The rules were stuck on the back of the bedroom door and not declared on the listing.

In addition to the added fees and inconvience of having to wash and clean your own sheets - despite paying gigantic $250 cleaning fees - Air BnB has a detrimental impact on the housing market. People really need to stop using it. It is both inconvience, a bad value, and unethical.

As someone that swore them off like 5+ years ago, it's validating to see the herd catching up.

Just use a hotel. Case closed.

Used to work for Airbnb on their crisis line - a lot of high net worth individuals use airbnbs to detox from drugs. We used to refer to them as “ shit demons” when we established we had one on the line - because, they would shit up the walls, in draws, in closets and cupboards, in beds in chairs - everywhere.

Edit: I only mention cu this gave me a weird memory. Shit demons weren’t common, handful of times a year. Most of the airbnbs are great - It’s mostly guests pissed at hidden cameras. Host pissed their home was used to shoot porn. Somebody died or somebody got assaulted. Also bait and switches. That Host Guarantee tho 😭 “white glove” guests can pretty much do what they want

I’d let someone stay at my place free for a week if they just cleaned it while they were there.

Fuck AirBNB and the owners. At their rates you can go 4 star and save money.

Let me be clear. If private venture capital gets involved, regardless of what it is, it’s ruined. There isn’t a single exception to this.

Everything else aside, I really like her nails.

Air BNBs are just scams at this point. For the most part, they're just for slumlords who are worse than the slumlords renting out their units for housing. It sucks to be somebody staying in one and they're also destroying the cities and neighbourhoods which permit them to operate.

The last time I stayed in an Air BNB, it cost more than a hotel and when I showed up there were two binders full of "rules", we had to clean the place before we left, were charged a cleaning fee anyways and the entire place smelled like cat piss because the downstairs neighbours obviously owned multiple cats they weren't cleaning up after.

In another Air BNB I rented, it was full of bugs and roaches. When I contacted the host to tell him, he was fully aware.

I've also had hosts cancel on me days before I was supposed to arrive and try to get me to be the one to cancel so they could keep my deposit without it affecting their rating.
