many violent attackers know that and target someone weaker, older/younger. If you look up unprovoked lash outs by strangers-they primarily actively seek conflict with much smaller opponent.

The video is pretty verbose, but yeah the message is important:

Don’t underestimate how crazy strangers are. Crazy people don’t always look crazy. You never know how violent someone can become and you often can’t walk it back once you find out.

Just bite off their nose. Nobody’s fighting back without a nose.

Don’t try to act crazy to strangers because they could be just acting sane.

I agree with the general sentiment, particularly as it relates to online discourse.

I do feel like a lot of people lack a sense of the real-world impacts of their digital actions. Not just the consequences for themselves (as was discussed here), but the potential harm to larger communities as well.

That being said, it is wild to me to think that anyone isn’t already aware that conflicts can escalate in unpredictable, dangerous, and uncontrolled ways. As someone who grew up in an emotionally unstable environment, I learned very early that folks can and will react in a dangerously explosive manner, often without much predictability.

Honestly, I may need to work on my mentality in the opposite direction. I often sense that I need to be better at standing up for myself and my beliefs, and not let fear of other’s emotional outbursts keep me from expressing myself (in a healthy way). I guess that’s a somewhat different topic though
