That "Madonna/Whore" thing is SO real.

Years ago, I was dating a guy for 3+ months. Things were going well, he was super into me (and I was into him), and often told me how I was his "perfect woman". Then we had a talk just in general about what we wanted out of the future, marriage, kids, etc.

He wants kids but drops this absolutely insane take: "I could never be OK watching the mother of my children kiss their foreheads knowing she had sucked a dick with that same mouth."

Um... ok.... how exactly does that work?

Needless to say, I walked away rather than being the other woman to a wife he hadn't even met.

I dont really think shes wrong about any of this. But i do think its a bit rich coming from a person whos enabling this behavior and actively benefitting from enabling it financially.

So doing OF basically makes you a psychoanalyst?

I cannot disagree with her in ANY point. I´m tired of seeing guys with this mentality about woman, and its very hard to work on this subject without hurting their very VERY fragile feelings.

I don't disagree with anything she said, that all makes sense to me in terms of who is paying for OF content. And I can see why the burnout would be high, after all it sounds like she was essentially getting paid to validate a lot of these guys misogynistic views.

That's the part I can't quite wrap my head around, sex work is real work and I respect that and can see how it would be empowering or whatever, and if you're just selling nudes and video content then yeah. But what she's describing with having conversations with these guys? Like how is that empowering to feel like you're enabling these guys horrendous views and treatment of the women in their lives? As she describes - it's not, hence the burnout. Kudos on her for trying to push back with some of these guys, but that's never gonna work as we know. But damn... this was depressing lol

I think many are viewing this through the lens of social commentary on men. I believe her intent was more setting expectations to other women about what to expect as an OF performer.

Around social commentary she’s describing a very real segment of society. She isn’t however properly acknowledging that a lot of what she describes is a subsegment of society. I doubt 50% of people have a foot fetish for example. I’d guess most men watch porn but much fewer pay $400 a month to an OF performer. The ones who do either have some fetish or are very lonely.

There’s also some duality in referring to whale clients (a common term in any service industry).

I just don’t get the bashing men who are their “clients”. Yeah, they have issues but you also have an issue in continuing to play around with their issues so that you can cash in.

Isn't this a bit of leopards ate my face type of situation? You are detaching your body and soul from genuine relationships and selling raw looks, lies and perfomances, obviously the buyers of that will be selfish creatures that view you as an object. They literally insert a coin and you will perform the action like a vending machine. Do sex work if you want, go for it and good luck but to your customers you were never a person, it's prerequisite for the job
