I thought this was an internet thing but I personally met an american woman who thinks that only americans are black. Not even africans are black. Only African Americans are black. She said that out loud in Brasil, where half of the population is black (not black to her though).

She also believed that slavery in the USA was either the only one, or the worst one. Brasil was the last country to abolish slavery.
