So, lower frequency bands don't do the same damage higher ones do at the same db. A lot of what you are seeing, is sub frequency. It has a physical reaction, but doesn't harm the little hairs in your ear the same way a high frequency band can. Now, if the windows were closed, the pressure probably could do some damage, but as far as what they hear, it's loud as fuck, probably leaves them with a little hearing damage, but nothing like you'd think seeing sound waves move everything around them.

In high school, I had a friend whose dad owned an electronics store, and they were sort of "known" as the place to get car stereos in the area. At some point, they got in a promotional truck from Pioneer, with the entire bed of the truck loaded with subwoofers, plus the rear interior had been taken out and loaded with speakers. I rode in it once. As soon as he turned it on with a drum and bass track in the CD player, my vision literally started to vibrate. Like my eyes were vibrating in my skull. Or the world was vibrating maybe. Anyway, I said I'm out and never rode in it again. And I had subs in my own car. But that was just too much.

Hearing damage is 1) permanent and 2) cumulative.

It adds up over time and can never be repaired.

You need allloooooooooot of pressure when below 100hz to damage your ears. The amount of money and knowledge one needs to have to achieve that is possessed by only so many.

Obviously you didn’t grow up in the early 2000s being picked up by your Senior crush who just installed 20s under their seats and wanted to test them out to Andre Nickatina’s Killa Whale.

I just love it when I can hear the radio of the person next to me.
