It’s true. And you think it would be a good thing. Until you’re sat there feeling the pressure. Everyone staring at you. Eat more you ungrateful swine

The best is after you finish you plate and they ask "why you don't eat? You not hungry?" which then leads to "You don't like how I cook?"

It's always a personal attack on the person who cooked if you don't eat until you physically can not anymore.

Roll me home!

I married into a middle eastern family, can confirm this is true. The lovely women in the family are hell bent on fattening up all the men for some strange reason.

Had this in Turkey with tea, of all things. Western politeness: finish it all. Turkish politeness: don't leave a cup empty. Drink and repeat LOL

<a few hours later gif> Turns out you should put your spoon over the top of the glass.

I used to be a social worker for Syrian refugees; helping them get settled in their new environment, integrate in society and get started with their new lives and such. Boy let me tell you they take hospitality far. Far too much food to eat and getting an apology when you ask for a napkin, because 'I should've noticed you needed one'. And you bet you're not going home before midnight. Absolutely lovely folk :)
