A 1 hour visit to the ER for a big gash i got was billed $7000 to insurance, and i still paid $2500. They did nothing except give me ointment, bandaged me up, and a tetanus shot.
Sad that American Healthcare decentivises people from going to the hospital/doctor unless you're literally dying.

It's not free in Sweden. We pay at point of service for all doctor's visits, hospital stays, emergency visits, meds etc as adults. Not crazy expensive and there is an annual cap, but calling it free is blatantly untrue – and ignores how tough it still is for the poor.

It’s funny until I try to imagine how fucking stressful it must be to live that way. Imagine suspecting something’s wrong and having lack of funds be a factor in whether (or when) you even get it checked out or not. Or worse, knowing something’s wrong and that you can’t afford the treatment. Horrible.
