What career can I switch to after 3 years in social media marketing?
Hey y’all, can I ask for some advice without judgment?
I’m genuinely not a lazy person. I’m just burned out.
I have about 3 years of experience in social media marketing, and lately I’m realizing this field might just not be for me. The workload, constant content demands, unrealistic expectations, being expected to somehow make everything “go viral”... I’m tired.
I still want to use the experience I already have though. I really don’t want to go back to university for another 4 years and then spend several more years getting experience in a completely new field.
So I’m wondering:
Are there any in-demand career paths that are adjacent to marketing/social media but don’t actually involve managing social media all day?
Like a niche or specific role I could transition into without completely starting from zero?
I’m also open to suggestions that have nothing to do with marketing. I just want something with better long-term prospects that won’t have me questioning my life every time someone says “can you make this Reel go viral?”
Would really appreciate any advice from people who’ve made a similar switch.
