It’s something I agree with and have been advising others. But there are issues that make it not a common place.

1. Victimization: staying in that zone validates their victimhood. Taking that accountability will strip them of that.

2. a sense of fairness: many people feel like they have to enable the circumstances that they went through. “If I had to go through with this, then you have to”.

3. Self awareness: this is something we need to promote. A nuanced way to look at situations and understand them rather than the “good guy vs bad guy” approach.

Agree on the points, disagree on oversimplification. It's not a single decision, it's a long and painfull journey and most people don't even know where to start and where to go. You can't reason yourself through emotions. You may know where you wanna be and how you wanna be, it's not gonna happen because you made a decision to not feel anger anymore. That's not how it works.

Yaaaas. Be aware of any traumas you may have been subjected to. Talk to a professional about them, any of them. But that's not an excuse to be a shit person, neither is your ethnicity, hair color or your horoscope. You're not the main character, unlearn all that shit and you'll be so much happier as a person.
