There is a much more nuanced debate here. You can grow wild type seeds. There are many seeds farmers can grow no charge. But to maximize yields and, of course, their own profit they use monsantos seeds. Those have millions in R and D into them.
The patent will expire one day, and will farmers use these seeds? No. They will continue to use monsantos next big deal to maximize profit

While the information might be correct, this Ai video is super off putting.

tbh most farmers wouldn't save seeds and replant anyways. most varieties of crops that get grown are basically infertile. For fruits and veggies this means smaller less viable seeds and less of the fruit being taken up by inedible seeds. For grains the seed is the kernel and the kernel is also the end food product. Saving seeds for the next harvest also means actively decreasing your overall output and therefore income. If it just made sense to save seeds then farmers would do that as they are not legally obligated to buy seeds or anything like that. Also the companies that produce these seeds do produce specialized strains of each plant designed to maximize output and put up with harsher conditions. These companies don't just grow their own wheat field like a normal farmer would because they have to grow these seeds under extremely tight conditions to ensure there's no cross pollination from unwanted strains. This is beyond the scope of what individual farmers can actually do on their own.

So most farmers choose to do this because it makes the most economic sense

Hard to take this seriously when you have a frantic talking guy at the beginning, then this guy wearing a giant hat indoors for no reason commenting on the video.

Corporations have been laying the groundwork for what we're seeing today for over a century. People like to point to citizens united as the turning point, but this is really something that they have been working at for generations.

It isn't that we're finally reaching the endgame where we actually realize the repercussions of these choices and how they were designed to opress those with less means.

There will always be people that are looking to co-opt Democracy and create their own system that serves them because they know real Democracy is a threat to their selfish desires. That's why we have to do everything we can to stop this kind of thing from getting worse.

It’s an industry of dedicated professionals that manage the breeding, multiplication, and genetic purity that results in goods that are true to type, meets growers and consumer needs, and is near void of noxious weeds. Some of y’all love to hate on socialism, but that is what we used to do, but capitalism is why we have cotton candy grapes, fruit that doesn’t spoil while it is in transport, and corn and soy yields where they are today.
