Should I pivot, or should I keep the course?
Would love to get professional opinion and perhaps some good old reality check :-)
I started out posting almost daily on TikTok almost 2 months ago. I didn't have any following from any other platform (have never really been online before), so I started from scratch. It's mostly booktok / authortok content. I've been following all of the advice posted here and elsewhere: trying to add value with each post, use hooks, etc. I'm showing my face and posting consistently (every day at around the same time).
After two months, these are my metrics:
- 4367 likes
- 38k total video views
At first my videos had an average of 40-60 views. Then, it went to the 300 views jail I keep hearing about here for a long time. Now, I'd say I'm beyond it, perhaps in the 500-1000 views average, with some videos performing poorly (around 200 views) and some performing better (around 4000 views).
I honestly thought (naively) that I would have more followers by now. I feel like my content is great, which makes it hard to improve, because I don't know what is wrong. I'm wondering what you folks here think of these metrics? Do they show potential? Or are they not where I should be after 2 months of posting almost daily?
My handle is storiesofpauline on TikTok, if you'd like to check it out.
