The best part about having a parent that never got me tested for ADHD, a C+ was exciting to my angry mother. My brother and sister always got A’s so my junior year I busted my ass, took a bunch of weighted classes and got all A’s and she didn’t say shit, so I stopped caring.

Remember kids, D’s equal Degrees in some colleges and most people don’t give a single flip about your grades, so have fun and just finish. That A+ in geology won’t mean shit in the real working world.

Irony is that none of those strict asian parents were ever successful in life

They punish themselves in the name of discipline and call it sacrifice; lot of these folks aren’t even remotely logical in their arguments; they find a ungrateful job, grind hours long and blame it on children for their sorry ass life; if you dont listen, then comes the water works, all the opportunities they missed cause they had to climb mountains everyday to go to school and the trauma dumping plus emotional blackmail

Reality is most of these parents enjoyed their school days and youth pretty hard and when they realized they are old and have a family and responsibility, they did a 90degree turn took up some job and stuck with it cause truth be told, they cant get another job

African parents do the same. A Nigerian parent would say, “The person that got A+, did they have two heads?”
